I feel my PS is strong, but I have a huge feeling of regret not having written those essays. 3.55 / 170 here, so they could've helped... we'll see how it goes. If anyone has any thoughts on if I have any shot in hell, please share :) Good luck to all!
I have very similar numbers (3.53/171) and did ED with the 5 year plan essay. Are you doing ED or RD? Good luck!

I'm 3.5/170 and I wrote a Why Penn. I hope that both of us have a shot!

RD here. I was hesitant and so didn't ED anywhere because I would rather not pay sticker. Plus, I'm in CA and so EDing somewhere that I've never actually seen or been to is too big a lock-in for me.

Out of curiosity, because our numbers are on he GPA 25 but LSAT around the 75, we should be competitive, yeah? Assuming LSAT is more heavily weighted.
Yeah, I feel ya. I only did ED since I'm from the Philly suburbs so I know the school/area so well and it's always been my dream to go (I actually did ED to Penn for undergrad but didn't get in... which I'm kind of glad of since I went to a state school and have no undergrad debt now).

I definitely think we're competitive though. Not sure if you'll be in in/out/waitlisted doing RD (probably come down to how many other people apply and your softs/PS), but I feel pretty good about ED after looking at all the 170-171 LSAT people on LSN.

Does anyone know roughly how many applicants apply ED to penn and how many are admitted? Since LSN doesn't encompass all applicants, was wondering if anyone has any info from admissions officers, current students, etc. I'm sure the numbers vary by year and condition of economy, but would appreciate any approximate numbers/guesses. :)

Do you think it would be in my interests to contact Penn and ask them to add one that I send them? Or would that actually hurt me?

Thanks guys
It might make your initial application appear rushed, so I would say it depends on your faith on your PS/resume. If you feel good about those two, then I would wait and send it if you get waitlisted. If not, then ask them to update your app. I know they look favorably on people who did write the optional essays.

+1
I don't agree, if you have substance in your essay, send it in. Because you could have learned more about the school and its offerings after visiting. So in that sense, if you could visit, and base your essay on the visit, that would really add weight.

Yeah. There's been no ED movement, has there? I'm RD but know that ED comes first. Figure won't check the status checker till I hear the ED people have started to hear.

From what I read somewhere else on here, they don't even start looking at the ED apps until the deadline, so there's no priority given to people who submit ED apps early. Not sure how accurate that is though.
Edit: I'm ED fwiw, and all i've gotten is a status checker (a few hours ago today)

so, all my apps are showing complete or under review to the various schools i have applied to. i wonder what you all mean when you talk about status trackers changing or being stuck on a certain date. how do they changes reflect something? just wondering about this cause i have seen it on a couple of these threads. thanks

UPenn's Conduct Verification Question 4: Have you ever, either as an adult or a juvenile, been convicted of a crime, or is any charge now pending against you?

Traffic violations don't count, right?

Edit: meh, I just included it.

I think they count because in PA, you are made to plead guilty to traffic violation, unlike in MA. Traffic violations result in court summons in PA, that needs a pleading.
Traffic violation? that's a pleadin'

Anyone know if traffic violation includes a parking ticket? I already submitted and don't really want to submit an addendum for a parking ticket three years ago...

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
