There's already non-URM's who have gotten in with a sub-3.5 so I wouldn't call it a barrier...

Yeah, looking at past years' LSN graphs, they really don't look all that GPA-heavy... If anything, they look more LSAT heavy to me. I'm no expert, and am just going by the imperfect and incomplete LSN data, but they don't look TOO bad for high LSAT low GPA splitters...

I think I also saw a non URM with a 166, 3.9 get in

Yeah, they're about even, but they do have a high GPA median, so maybe slightly towards GPA.

Penn is notoriously GPA stingy for ED. They use the high GPA ED's they accept to balance out splitters from their RD pool.

Please TLS give me some idea of what I can expect. I feel like a solid waitlist.

If I don't go to Penn my partner will have to leave a Good job. I should have put that in my why penn but I didn't.
You should submit a Why Penn or LOCI (if they accept that) now explaining how much you want penn, the thing about the job. There's no reason you should be waitlisted except YP (or if you have something weird wrong with your app).

An LOCI before I even get a decision? I did a why penn just didn't include that factor

From LSN this year it looks like they did the opposite.

+1 to this. 11/22 complete, finally getting looked at, for better or worse.

This really isn't true at all. Their ED formula is basically 3.3+ 170+ and you're in.

You can't do a LOCI if they reject you, can you?

Not unless you substantially improve your LSAT in February or something like that

I'm going to go against what others are saying and say to save your LOCI for when you actually get waitlisted. You're not going to get dinged so that's not a factor and Penn is really slow so you don't even know if you're getting WLed yet.

New to this site. Just wondering my chances.

3.91 GPA 178 LSAT

But wasn't Penn specific in my essay- will this hurt?

Errr... I would normally agree with this... But someone who was confident they were going to be WL'd at UVA sent one in and got an acceptance shortly after... If you're really interested and have enough material to write an additional LOCI, I don't think this one could hurt.

I speak as someone who rode out the Michigan, Duke, GULC, and NU waitlists last year (obviously I didn't get in). If there's any way to keep yourself off a waitlist, do it.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
