Obviously it's frustrating going this long without hearing back from a school, but if you haven't heard anything yet you're still in the running. Just read back through the last few pages and you'll find plenty of acceptances and reserves, with very few straight rejections. Columbia is still making decisions and they don't appear to be stopping any time soon now that they've moved onto the hold pile.

complete in Dec and silence ever since...so I can only guess I'm still in the running.

Anyone know the best way to send them updated materials (e.g. resume)?

I sent them an updated resume in an e-mail attachment. They replied very quickly saying thank you and that they would add it to my file.

Grats bro. Gonna be joining me here instead of NYU? Or NYU still your number one?

I'm pretty sure Columbia is a better fit, and I'll be there in the end. Just don't quote me on that (not literally).

glad you got in dude. Now here's to another wave of "you should totally send a LOCI" emails from CLS

Guys...FYI to those of you on Reserves...made it to 3rd reserve last cycle but a no in the end. 3.56 GPA, 165 LSAT. Seems they gave a lot of weight to my minority status. Just in case anyone wants any insight. I was where you are a little over a year ago.

no, but that bodes REALLY well for you, considering the recent results of the other group that got it.

Do we think any EDers may hear back next week? I know an ED deferral is typically the kiss of death, but I have a reason to think that I may yet get into my original dream school, and that would just be unreal.

As JMJ said, this is a REALLY good sign. Quick question: did the email ask you to submit application updates to Danielle Flores or to the director of admissions directly?

Hmm. Hopefully! Though I don't have any new information or awards to update about.

It asks to submit to the director of admissions.

I didn't have any idea what to say either, so I took a couple days and got some advice from a couple people. In the end, my first paragraph just said that Columbia is my top choice, and that I want to live in New York, giving a few reasons why. My second paragraph I just talked about a couple of things that I'm doing at the moment (as a research assistant and a senior project leader) and what I'm learning from them that will make me a better lawyer/law student, and a better asset to Columbia. You probably don't need that much, I just didn't know whether they were looking for extra information about me to make me stand out or just protecting their yield.

The first wave was told to send everything to Danielle Flores.

Wait...is this your SECOND request?

What about the people who got the first email but didn't get a response/didn't get this second request?

IDK whether there is precedent from previous years. I still maintain that the letter means "tell us you're interested, we'll let you in"

Have any people who were not held received one of those emails asking for an LOCI?
At this point, I'm curious what the difference between held and not held applicants is.

I'm wondering what the logic is behind keeping people you ultimately plan to reject in silence. They've had our applications for quite some time now (in some cases, 6 months), and know our qualifications. It's two weeks away from deposit deadlines, they should also have a perfectly clear view of what the applicant pool/their class looks like.

Is this simply because they send out rejections in waves? Even then, it seems like they should know who they are going to reject by now--making the wave any later in the cycle is a bit unnecessary.

Also, does anyone see a pattern/logic to the acceptances/decisions so far? It seems a bit random from a numbers perspective.

Edit--My take: Actually, I do see some sort of pattern: high GPAs. Perhaps they have already shored up their LSAT median and are now trying to work on the GPA? Also, they could be waiting for some sort of big movement on Harvard's part--maybe they think/know this is going to have a big impact on their matriculation rates.
