Status checker on my ED app says, "Application Status: Complete."

Yeah, I think it's said that for a while now... not sure if it means they have all of the required materials or that they are done reviewing it... either way, I'm pretty sure we'll be hearing soon.

After your application goes complete, your status checker won't change and you won't hear anything else until your decision.

Got my complete email sometime last night around 5 pst. Guess now I can just try to forget about cls until next month when decisions are closer (definitely not happening).

I applied regular decision and sent in my app in early November. It's still been sitting at Completion Pending. Is that normal for Columbia or should I call and see what's up?

Just check LSN people (lawschoolnumbers.com)

In previous cycles the earliest decisions were sent 11/30 to ED applicants. No reason for anyone to be worried at this point. Go to LSN, sort of submit or complete date and then see when those with similar submit/complete dates to you heard back, making sure you take note of ED/RD. That's when you can expect to hear back

I haven't gone through the entire thread looking for this answer, so I apologize if you've already discussed this.

I submitted my application about a week ago and the status check website still says that my information doesn't match any of their records. I already received an email saying that they had my application and the website says that it can take up to 2 week for the information to be entered into their database, so I haven't been worrying yet. I just wanted to see if you all experienced the same thing.

Thanks!

Yep, you can pretty much kiss merit aid goodbye if you get in ED.

Further thoughts on ED and $, not just at Columbia but at every school that offers ED:

Many admissions officers claim to consider ED admits and RD admits equally for merit aid. At the all-or-nothing level (does school X give ED admits ANY merit aid?), this claim is relatively easy to prove: just go to LSN and see if there are any ED admits who've received merit aid.

(By the way, what's harder to prove is that ED admits are truly considered equally. How do you know whether ED admits wouldn't have received more money had they applied and gotten in RD? I guess you could compare them to RD admits with similar numbers, but it's still tough to tell for sure.)

However, the claim is even more difficult to disprove. Even if no ED admit receives any merit aid, admissions officers can still claim to have considered them for merit aid (but just decided not to give them any). Many if not most ED admits are borderline candidates, at least among people on LSN, who tend to be more aware of how numbers-driven the admissions process is: people generally have the good sense not to apply ED if their numbers are comfortably in the admit range.

Since so many ED admits are borderline and basically every school claims to use a holistic approach in evaluating applications, admissions officers can falsely claim to consider ED admits for merit aid without having to worry about being proven wrong. This is why I'm not really that impressed when admissions officers make this claim.

Of course, you have no negotiating power if you're ED, so if you're hoping for merit aid, applying ED is a bad idea even if it's at a school that truly gives merit aid to ED admits.

Is there any reason why we should be expecting results tomorrow?

Yeah, soj speaks the truth. The great thing about LSN is that it pretty much destroys 90% of the bullshit that law schools give out about the admissions process. Fortunately for the adcomms, they're all lawyers so know how to couch their claims in equivocal language so they're not literally false, just misleading.
