Couldn't really tell, it was hard to decipher. Just was trying to see what came after holds around this time - though that doesn't really mean anything for this cycle...

Late October submit. Nobody dinged or wl'ed with my #s this year or last. No hold, no waitlist, no VCE.

At what point is it legit to write a "Why Columbia"?

IMO, if you have median/+ numbers and you didn't get a hold today (or tomorrow), that is more likely to mean a VCE is on its way.

In terms of what the hold means--I don't know if there is any reason to read between the lines--they have looked at our applications and still haven't made a decision. They are waiting to see what the rest of applicant pool is like before they make any further decisions. I know of a few people who got in via Holds, so I don't know what it means for our chances, but I think we're still in the running.

I DO think we're in a separate pile, but I think the "still haven't reviewed yet" pile is very small now. And there's no reason to believe that pile has a bigger mix of better numbers. Once they're done with that (I think soon), they'll go back to the Hold pile and keep going until they fill up the class.

If you have median numbers and you've been put on hold, I think you have the same chances that you did the day after you applied. If anything, you survived a round of rejections, maybe even better.

Just being optimistic =].

Got the hold email today as well. Really pulling for the rest of you guys, especially people who aren't t6 secure yet. Jam, where you at tho?

Maybe your chances are even better now because other people with median numbers and lukewarm PS/Diversity Statements have already been rejected or WLed?!

If you haven't heard back from Columbia yet (no ding, WL, or hold) is an LOCI appropriate now?

Hah. Disagree. I don't watch Parks and Rec, so I can't comment on the quality of it ( I love Amy Poehler, though). Nonetheless, you can't do much better than Up In the Air.

You guys, I love this conversation. I agree with amc, you CANNOT get better than Up in the Air, but I’ve been told I have an Aubrey Plaza in Parks and Rec sense of humor, so I thought it was fitting.

I'm not privy to the statistics, but it seems as though a held applicants chances are greater than a waitlisted or rejected applicant.
