For those of us lucky enough to get in later in February, will we have time to fill out FAFSA forms for merit- and need-based aid? Is it possible to send that in before you have been informed of an admissions decision?

Yessir, most schools recommend that you give them access to your FAFSA whether you've been admitted yet or not.

So we just fill out a FAFSA and send it to the admissions office?

No. You fill out your FAFSA on fafsa.ed.gov and list the schools that you're applying to so they're able to access your information. Every school has detailed instructions posted on their financial aid sites.

No mail today either, but I fear with dings reaching the Carolinas today, those of us deeper South will hear soon

Mind saying where about you live, East Coast ooor? Thanks!
Carolinas
Thanks. I am over here in the MidWest. Should be expecting dingalicious mailings from both Columbia and Yale... I say dingalicious because it sounds more playful, hoping to lessen the deep pain that I will surely endure.
Why do you continue to say stuff like this? Do you really expect to get dinged from Columbia with a 4.0/174?

yeah, if you get dinged, there's no hope for most of us. I doubt you'll even get a straight ding at YLS

Sent in an LOCI, and they said they would add it to my file. Seemingly as if they hadn't made a decision on my file yet. 10/25 submit.

Yep, though maybe that's a good thing now that they've mailed dings as well.

Well, not to be a jerk, but he hasn't exactly had the best cycle so far. Take a peek at his profile.

Spoke to a friend from CLS who had some experience with the adcomm there. He said it's still too early and that I should give it until early March. Yikes.

yeah. I think many of CLS's top choice applicants are still waiting (including you). I just think that the way they approach the process makes it so that some really qualified applicants are still waiting, but that it doesn't really mean much.

It's that kind of thinking that made my straight ding from YLS with a 3.95+/174 so much more bitter.

But on a more positive note, I think that there are more acceptances to come and everyone should just buckle down for a bit. History shows that another wave should be coming soon.

as a philosophy major it is my responsibility to tell you that is not what "begs the question" means. It has nothing to do with raising the question, to beg the question is to commit a logical fallacy of circular reasoning. That is, you assume to be true what you set out to prove.

Whichs begs the question, if everybody uses a phrase with a different purpose than it's original use, which usage is wrong?
