Let's discuss all the ASW stuff next fall at Community Food and Juice, Red Rooster, and the uptown Fairway.

I don't see that as anything but a move for Columbia to assess the situation and then address it later on (whether that means putting up a warning label or putting responsibility on those who were admitted not to share their passwords in the future). If anything, it hurt the admitted students more than those who weren't admitted because the admitted students cannot use the ASW.

I think you're completely missing the point. Columbia doesn't have to prove anything. Did you read the Harvard article? If Columbia had wanted to make a big deal out this, they could have. It looks like they changed the password, and just let it drop.

Let's let it drop as well.

If I get into Columbia I'm going to face a real hard dilemma. For personal reasons I want to attend Penn. I usually do the best when I follow my gut and my gut says Penn. to tell the truth, I had no idea I was a t14 candidate. Is it bad to say how proud I am of myself? My dad's eyes light up when I tell him I got in somewhere. It's such a family sitcom loving moment.

Uh, no! I think all of us that are in at a T14 are proud of ourselves.

Except maybe the kids that believe they are YHS secure but might have only been accepted to say some lower T14 because they are still hoping for those YHS acceptances (which is warranted).

Congrats on Penn though and good luck with CLS!

No I think you are missing the point:

'Last week, a computer hacker helped applicants to several of the nation's best business colleges and universities gain access to internal admissions records on the schools' Web sites (see story).
Using the screen name "brookbond," the hacker broke into the online application and decision system of Fairfax, Va.-based ApplyYourself Inc. and posted instructions on the Internet that students could use to get information about their applications before any acceptance notices ever went out. '

So a computer hacker--a criminal--helped applicants access by *breaking* into an 'an online application and decision system'. Is the poster who posted a picture of his acceptance a hacker/criminal who helped us break in? Did anyone break in? No. You also needed a hacked account to access this, namely 'brookbond'. Was the password hacked? No, it was posted and the poster nor the packet containing the password nor the CLS website said anything about not accessing the website for those who were not admitted.

'MIT said it does not post the information until after all admissions decisions are made and released, so no one who sought unauthorized access to his or her account gained access to any information.'

The implication is that it was seeking unauthorized access. Did we seek unauthorized access? Was it even unauthorized? If you go to a website like this: https://www.commonapp.org/application/r ... icant.aspx you will get legal information that talks about unauthorized access. I don't recall having to go through any legal jargon to access anything.

It seems to me that these students not only used a hacker to help them gain unauthorized access, they had signed the application about not authorizing it illegally.

Here is the article that I read: http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/ ... acked_site

So yes I have read the article, and I don't see how you can say that the poster who posted his VCE was a hacker. I don't see how we had a hacked account to access the system. I don't see how this article is relevant, other than being used as a tenuous scare tactic.

Out of curiosity, did you try the "register enrollment decision" trick yesterday?

I'm not trying to annoy. I just don't like when someone says I did something that I strongly believe I didn't do. I'm not going to let accusations roll around without putting up some sort of a counter argument.
