I just compulsively text my mother who can barely text back until she checks the mail starting around 1 (mail doesn't come til 3, but what if it comes early one day?!) :)

I would also like to know this. Would be nice to confirm my WL/reject before April.

Last year there were January submits in the first week or so of VCEs. Columbia staggered the mailings by a couple days but they all seemed to come out at roughly the same time. I would assume this holds true for WLs/dings as well and if you were complete before New Years you'll be in the first round.

Do you know if this was the case for deferred ED'ers as well?

This is mostly right according to LSN. The holds/wait lists/rejections seemed to go out later (most weren't received until early Feb, whereas most of the early submitters who got good news got it during the last week of January in 2011).

If you look at this data sorted by decision date, you'll see that there seem to be plenty of people (mostly holds I'm guessing), who applied well before New Year last cycle and didn't hear anything definitive from Columbia until April: http://columbia.lawschoolnumbers.com/ap ... r=desc&p=1 There is also a random group of submitters who applied before the New Year and didn't find out until mid-Feb: http://columbia.lawschoolnumbers.com/ap ... r=desc&p=2 Perhaps those people's decisions were sent out a little later than some of the earlier submitters or there was some problem with their applications that prevented them from getting decisions in the first batch. Who really knows?

Anyway, my point is that even though there's a strong possibility that most people who submitted early will hear this week, it's not necessarily a sure thing. Fingers crossed for tons of VCEs starting very soon! Good luck everyone!

Someone said earlier that this year VCEs will probably come out a little later. I know it was a speculation, but what prompted that speculation? Any reason to think decisions will actually be delayed at CLS this year?

My guess is it's because other schools (e.g., NYU and Chi) were slightly late this cycle.

In January 2010, some people even got decisions the Friday before the week of VCE flooding... We're the Tuesday after now. Why do we have to wait so long? :(

This question has given me constant anxiety since I got in to Harvard haha. I honestly never expected to get accepted at HLS and Columbia was always my first choice, so now I am just confused. I want to stay in NYC, so I definitely want the option and am hoping (if I get in) that I can get some $$ to make the decision easier. But as of now, I have no idea. :?

Well then, for your sake, I hope you don't get into Yale. :) With your numbers, I'd say money from Columbia is more likely than not.

it is funny how you were probably anxious at one point that you would not get in anywhere and then now THIS is what makes you anxious. Though my choices as of now are not quite (to say the least) at the level of Harvard vs. Columbia, I totally understand the feeling. Good problem to have though. congrats and good luck with Columbia and $$ :)
