No, but if we're thinking they may have been sent Monday, tomorrow is the first day it's even likely. This has not, however, stopped me from being irrationally disappointed about coming home to an empty mailbox all week(other than that Akron Law postcard.)Elliott_Smith wrote:So still no sightings?

Maybe Harvard too, seems like a large number of holds this year (like me). Hope there is some Harvard love for us yet.JamMasterJ wrote:The rest have started RD, but Yale and Michigan are fairly slowsalsahips wrote:Is any other T14 school taking as much time?

New question: do we know which kind of mailing service Columbia used for ED? I'm guessing RD will likely be the same. USPS? Express mail? Priority mail? First class? UPS?

Is there a mail expert in the house?
EDIT: sorry URL doesn't work. It's a usps days for delivery chart.

seems pretty ridiculous to waste money on anything > first class for a bunch of applicants who might not even accept ...

Vandy uses fedex I think for admits, and UVA uses priority mail. Can't think of any others off the top of my head.InformationOverlord wrote:seems pretty ridiculous to waste money on anything > first class for a bunch of applicants who might not even accept ...

Looking at ED last year vs this year, could there be a general 5-day lag?
If there is, I'm thinking next week is the deal.

All that was in my mail today was spam for the former resident of my apartment.

Vandy also flies out any admitted student, and gives us $50 a night for hotels... seems like they're big spenders

Sadly, no. They could be saving 15% on their energy bill though.MikeTheWilliams wrote:Did they get into Columbia?!thatkid wrote:All that was in my mail today was spam for the former resident of my apartment.

Well, I'm sure they get delivery confirmation with priority mail. Consider it from a ROI perspective, if $4000 extra in postage nets you even one or two additional matriculants either from avoiding lost mail or because they feel so special getting a nice envelope it'll pay for itself.InformationOverlord wrote:seems pretty ridiculous to waste money on anything > first class for a bunch of applicants who might not even accept ...

Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
You, sir, greatly overestimate the service of the USPS. Delivery confirmation costs extra. Also, Columbia mails VCEs via regular old first class mail. There's no speed advantage to priority mail, it's just what they call the surcharge tacked onto everything greater than 13 oz.chucklesmcgee wrote:Well, I'm sure they get delivery confirmation with priority mail.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
