Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Just received an email with a letter attachment informing me that I've been placed on the reserve list. Better than a straight out ding, I suppose. Does anyone know how many they take from the reserve list?

Ditto, because almost half that I counted DON'T have auto admit numbers. The only pattern I noticed was 173+ LSATs. Maybe they were worried about losing their LSAT median so they're making sure to tidy that up first? It makes sense if you press that the order of VCEs is early submitters with higher than median LSATs ---> everybody else.hypothalamus wrote:What do you consider auto-admit numbers for CLS?lawschool899 wrote:thats what it seemed like to me as well. glad someone agrees!Bronck wrote:According to LSN, it seems like most of the people admitted in the first few rounds (end of January) had auto admit numbers, or close to it.lawschool899 wrote:Columbia is a long shot for me. 171, 3.85. Just put on their reserve list; say they will tell me at the end of May! That's crazy, who would take an all-or-nothing gamble like that?

Ugh, that sounds brutal. Makes me more nervous now about checking my email. Good luck though!crumpledq wrote:Just received an email with a letter attachment informing me that I've been placed on the reserve list. Better than a straight out ding, I suppose. Thanks for the support! I'll be okay, though. I'd almost definitely go to NYU (where I'm in) over CLS. But I want to keep my options open in case I change my mind or discover something new I hadn't considered.WhiteGuy5 wrote:Ugh, that sounds brutal. Makes me more nervous now about checking my email. Still noticing a huge dearth of URM acceptances. I count all of 5 real URM acceptances on LSN.

Reserve e-mail received at 2:17 p.m. Submitted mid- to late-September, stats in profile.
Unlike the applicants who are "wait listed" at some law schools, candidates placed on Reserve at Columbia are at no point ranked ordinally. Rather, each application on Reserve is reviewed again in its entirety by the Admissions Committee on a periodic basis, as openings in the entering class materialize.

Did you guys all get the email at the same time? If we don't get one does that mean we can expect acceptance/ding?

Reserve by e-mail. Stats in profile.
I think I now have every kind of decision/non-decision possible.
Held at Harvard
Reserve at Columbia
Reject Chicago & Penn
E-mail that isn't anything at Michigan
Faculty review at Berkeley
Waitlist at Virginia
In at Duke
Hold at Northwestern
I guess that means a lot of them like me, just not THAT much.

Reserve email... WHA?!? Did not think this was going to happen... I thought I was an auto-ding. :/ Don't play with my heart, Columbia.

The problem with the reserve list is that they won't even open it until the end of May, so you either put everything in this or take yourself off of it.

Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I think reserve is equivalent to a waitlist. According to their email, they distinguish it nominally because they don't rank applicants, but I don't think all waitlists are ranked.erikjc wrote:So does Columbia not have a wait list?crooked wrote:Reserve e-mail received at 2:17 p.m. Submitted mid- to late-September, stats in profile.
