Well, you may be nobody, but you nevertheless are, since we've been able to ascribe a predicate to you (namely the predicate of being nobody). So now the question comes down to your essence.... Are you a thinking thing, in an essential way, or are you something else. That becomes the real question...

Sorry, existance and non-existance are not predicates, so if he's nobody then he's nobody, and then the "he", hmm..There's no "there" there.

I am sympathetic with existence and non-existence not being predicates, but regarding everything that comes after "then he's nobody," I have no idea what you are saying... :)

Yeah, I was gonna leave it there, but it seemed too terse and argumentative. The rest didn't make any sense, shoulda just put a smiley.

Nobody wrote:Or maybe those four guys were it and we're all doomed. Honestly, I wrote that as a joke, but if this is a low applicant year and they end up dipping a little deeper into the applicant pool to maintain their medians, they might defer a lot of people to RD and accept them once it's clear that they really need to. It's not like any borderline ED candidates are going to do better than Columbia, so there's not a huge reason to keep them bound.
That would be interesting as a CLS ED deferral has virtually guaranteed an eventual WL/rejection in the past but, as you say, this is an unusual year.

Yeah, but I could see them looking at their ED pool, feeling underwhelmed, but worrying that it might be reflective of a worse pool in general. In that case, it's like "do we let in this early a bunch of applicants that we otherwise wouldn't, or hold out for better applicants that might not come, and then lose this original batch in an unusually competitive year for yield?" It's like some sort of game theory problem.
