Also, do we know from previous cycles if they'll at least pull off the bandaid quickly and reject ED applicants at the same time, or will there be a period where we just haven't heard back and will be holding out hope for an acceptance?

WL's and rejections will likely come out later than the first couple batches of acceptances. Go on LSN and select applicants and sort by decision date:

The latest reported ED acceptance for last year was 12-23. This may be a miserable wait if that's not an error.
