yeah, if you like one of Chi or NYU more than the other, or if the money is really different, go with that one
But I love both cities so much!!!!!! :( :(
I encourage you to visit Hyde Park before you make your decision (if you haven't already)...
I have quite a few times, and the UChicago bubble seems nice enough. If I go there, I expect to only ever go to the nice parts outside the campus. Certainly Harlem isn't much better, and same thing there--I would only venture to safe parts outside of campus. I meant that I like both cities in general very much.

Of course I haven't gotten into either yet so maybe this is a bit premature.

Oh look. Our school posted extremely detailed employment information with information for over 90% of the class.

Hopefully this answers some questions.

Look at the salary numbers to see how much the 2010 class got crushed relative to history. crazy.

Of course, that's only for C/o 2010. C/o 2011 was the year of infinite sorrow. From this thread it appears Chicago weathered it as good as anyone, but the numbers undoubtedly took a huge hit.

Anecdotally, what is the general opinion on how the c/o 2012 and c/o 2013 did at OCI?

This is silly. At that point grades matter more than range of school. Columbia and Chicago are peers.
Ok that also brings in questions of grading systems, curves, class sizes, and whatnot. What you're saying is, a person at median at Columbia has the same opportunities as a person at median at Chicago, placing into respective markets?
Going to one of CCN or the other isn't going to make a difference (assuming you would get the same grades at all of them). You will have access to the same firms and getting the job will come down to your personality and resume at that point. Pick whichever one is cheaper or whichever one you like best. There aren't going to be opportunities than one could give you over the other career-wise.

scroll down on this page to see the breakdown of 2L summer jobs for NYU students: http://www.law.nyu.edu/careerservices/e ... /index.htm

Co/2009: 88% in firms
2010: 80% in firms
2011: 55% in firms.

Someone posted that NYU's OCS reported that 78% of 2010 OCI participants (so, c/o 2012) received at least one offer, which would probably translate to roughly 70% of the class in a 2L firm summer job. They also reported that 2011 OCI might have done a little bit better.
But I think the bounce-back was really uneven--Michigan is the only school I've seen which has reported 2L summer jobs for c/o 2012 on their web site, and only 55% had a firm job.

(Whoops, just realized you might have meant how Chicago did at OCI. Oh well. Sorry)

What explains the discrepancy between this and the NLJ250?

On Chi website it says 70%+ working in a firm of 500+ lawyers, but the NJL250 is more like 40-50%?

NJL 250 was like 59%, and NLJ doesn't include a lot of firms.

This.

Also, it hasn't even been 9 months since the class of 2011 graduated, but what I have heard about SAs has generally been good.

Looks like silence so far out there for us EDers...anyone happen to have info on approx what time of the day phone calls happened last year? 1:30pm feels too early to say it's not happening today.

The way I understand it is that it doesn't say that 70%+ are in firms of 500+, it says that 70%+ of those working in firms are in firms of 500+

They posted this on twitter last year on 12/20:
"We will begin releasing decisions on Early Decision applications today... starting telephone calls mid-afternoon!"

And the first call I could find was at 2:29pm the same day, then at 2:56 and 3.

THERE IS STILL TIME.

eta: Here is the ED thread from last year. They called late in the day!!
