Decided it would be useful to use an index taking LSAT and GPA into account when looking at decisions so far. Chicago doesn't publish an index, so I used Stanford and Columbia.

I think both show that there's a clear difference between the WL and Deny, although unsurprisingly the WL25 is close to the Deny75.
The Median and 75 for admits are clearly superior to the rest of the applicant pool, but the medianWL and espescially the WL75 seem inline/better than the bottom quartile of admits.

I think the Mins are distorted by people who did not enter GPAs so don't read too much into that.

I'm wondering if the people they take so far are only autoadmits and people that they like for some reason other than numbers. Since the class is so small, they may have to do their numbers-finagling later in the cycle, at which point they would do more numbers-based acceptances.

This seems like a good theory given that the bottom half of the accepted pool looks pretty similar numbers wise to the top half of the waitlist pool. This means that some softs/randomness must be going on to separate those groups. Especially if you compare that to NYU where it seems like there have been pretty clear numerical cut offs.

Also keep in mind that none of these numbers reflect the prestige of the undergrad institution or the nature of the undergraduate major. Chicago might look at a 3.8 MIT physics major a little differently from a 3.8 English major from a less competitive school.

I wasn't considering Chicago before... is it worth applying now? 176/3.20?

Would be better off spending the money on a loved one for Valentines. Best of luck on your cycle! :)

Under review today (went complete 12/15). Anyone know roughly how much time to expect between first UR and a decision?

After a disappointing score and having to apply late, I changed my game plan in early January. I remember thinking, "Okay, now I'll just ignore these fee waivers and not even think about the T14...." And then I got a fee waiver from Chicago (and others) and responded with, "Apply to ALL the schools!"

...not a snowball's chance, I have. But if their system miscalculates and lets me in, free beer, pizza and cookies for everyone.

There is some indomitable douchebag spammer from Chicago that got ahold of my cell number. Every call comes from a different number but all in Chicago. At this point, when I do hear from UChi/NW I'll probably ignore the call out of habit!

UR today after a 12/20 complete date. How long after the first UR have people been receiving decisions?
