Anything I send I plan on sending straight to the school via e-mail. Not sure if that is TCR but I have sent things to other schools after my application as submitted and they had no problems with it.

I think that snailmail is more personal. I've been sending my stuff by snailmail and e-mail. I've e-mailed small things (letting them know about GPA) and then snailmailed other stuff. Not sure if that's the best route.

1) Is there any chance those of us who are WLed could gain admission before April if we send in the Why Chicago essay promptly? Or is it safe to assume the admissions committee sets aside all WLed applicants until April?

2) Any chance of scholarship if a WLed individual is admitted? I ask because I was considering Chicago as my top choice thinking I thought I could get 15-25K a year (174, 3.83), and now if I merely gained admission after being WLed I would most likely choose another school.

No idea when people start getting in off the waitlist, but people who got off the WL last year got some $ (I know of a few who got 10-15K/yr). Getting in off the WL won't necessarily doom you to sticker.

I would go with an email. I see no point in snail mailing it since they receive your application in electronic form and if you choose to update them with materials before a decision, you send it via email as well.

I would also go with email.

From Chicago's waitlist email:
"Please note that submitting supplemental materials is entirely optional and we will only accept materials electronically."

So should the additional information be sent in the email or as an attachment? An LOCI, for example. I sent letters out via snail. I think I might need to call and double-check now.

I would send as an attachment with the usual header (name, lsac#, name of document)

What about LORs? (because I don't have access to them through LSAC, ya know?)

+1

Also, guys, it's too early for rubies. They do financial aid stuff soon, but not at the same time as decisions. Last year we got our financial aid emails February 18.

Also, once they start doing the admitted students chats, I HIGHLY suggest you guys go to some. They're awesome :)

Also, I don't know if this has changed, but last year I think you were supposed to have FAFSA and NeedAccess done for UChi on like Feb 1st, so make sure to check on that. I turned it in way past the deadline, which is kind of a running theme for me with UChi, but I'd recommend getting everything done as soon as you can.

and Chicago is more paper-averse than possibly any other school. I would definitely email them

Finally getting around to writing my LOCI after whatever the fuck it was that Chicago sent so many of us EDers.

They just started a clinic that focuses on exactly what I want to do, what my personal statement is about, what 70% of my resume is...............

What gives, Chicago? Either way, I am now writing (re: begging and pleading) in my LOCI. Want Chicago even moar now. :(

Congrats to everyone who was admitted!!

The same thing you got. The waitlist that people seem to think is not an actual waitlist?

Forever bitter.

And ketchup, the Gendered Violence and the Law Clinic. Combined with them throwing money at public interest people last year with summer funding/new LRAP.... Chicago is so perfect.

oh, gotcha. Yeah, after looking at employment data and stuff, I want Chicago so badly. I really hope HEAVY WL usage is just part of their strategy this year!

Anyone called the admissions office to see when they might move on this stuff?
