Hmmmm......

in before mod edit

i bet more chicago students will be going into PI, though i don't know how many more.

And I agree. My guess is that the truly horrible LRAP from years previous was a key factor in people not going into PI.

No it's definitely not just one person. I think that number was a nonprofit # from a few years ago, but government also counts and a lot of people do clerkships.

But if you're def committed to PI, I highly suggest making that a major part of your application. I'm pretty sure that helped me get scholly money.

Thank you, Xifeng. I was excited for Chicago before, but this all makes it sound even better.

Updated OP with fee waiver information:

If we award a waiver after an applicant has applied & paid, they can request a refund within the current application cycle.

Yaay! At this time last year, I wasn't even considering Chicago because of their old LRAP and PI reputation, but I'm really glad I was able to choose Chicago without screwing myself over for PI. Definitely PM me if you have any more questions :)

The change to the app was for the education section. They fixed some bugs and removed the choice for "High School" to avoid confusion. I believe that was the only change that was made.

I visited the school today. The admissions staffer I talked to said they were caught a bit off guard by the app being up so early online. He didnt think, though, that it would cause any problems. He said lsac doesn't normally send the info to the school until Sep 15th anyway.

He also mentioned that the system is a bit different this year with a different app for Ed vs rd, but he didn't see any reason why someone who applied rd couldn't change to Ed before the deadline.

Is this a common policy among the T10? I'd like to submit my apps as early as possible, but I don't really want to sacrifice potential fee waivers.

As far as I know, Chicago is the only school that will do this.

Me too!

But do you really doubt this, Tiago? You aren't that bad of a splitter and they'll love your LSAT. Plus, I really want you to get in because they may need your LSAT points to make up for my score!!! :)

It's cool bro. people forget I'm a TFer. Mostly because I kind of hate teaching.

In fact, that's a telltale sign of a TFer.

That's not bad for a first draft PS, but I would try and get at least one full page. I like where you're going with this though. Mind if I borrow the idea for mine?

Where does it ask about other schools that you are applying to? I didn't see it on mine.

Thanks

Well, I think it depends on multiple factors, including where the 0.1 GPA difference is, i.e., is it between a 3.9 and a 4.0? a 3.3 and a 3.4? Or as you said a 3.77 and a 3.87? Assuming the latter, a 3.77 is below their median, while a 3.87 is at their 75th percentile. So, in this case, I think it would make a large difference.
Of course, it also depends on what your LSAT score is.

Your advice sort of strengthened my resolve and emboldened me to re-request a transcript review, at my undergrad institution. They had made a mistake on my transcript, but the head of records stonewalled me; he was completely unwilling to address the issue. I went over his head and e-mailed the director of the department, and they made the change within two days! Now I just need to re-send the corrected transcript and I'll get a .1 bump in my GPA.

Thanks!
