I am interested in this.kulshan wrote:Does anyone know whether they do the first Rubenstein offers when they admit people, or will that come later, like big scholarships at other schools?
Why? You're going to Harvard...Curious1 wrote:I am interested in this.kulshan wrote:Does anyone know whether they do the first Rubenstein offers when they admit people, or will that come later, like big scholarships at other schools?
For a Rubenstein there's a small chance I would reconsider. Especially with all this Chicago trolling around here...I might be converting. Chicago > Harvard???WhiteGuy5 wrote:Why? It's Friday the 13th tomorrow -- anything could happen!dakure wrote:Dear god I don't want an email from them tomorrow.Champion wrote:Anyone think because there's gonna be so many admits that they might not all be by phone call?
No you wouldn't. You're too in love with the idea of getting to say "I went to Harvard." I can tell from how excited you were when you got in.Curious1 wrote:For a Rubenstein there's a small chance I would reconsider.WhiteGuy5 wrote:Why? Hence: small chance.WhiteGuy5 wrote:

+1, especially because I'm doing law and phil/academia.Curious1 wrote:For a Rubenstein there's a small chance I would reconsider. I think for academia Harvard has the definite edge, especially with their super generous LIPP.kulshan wrote: +1, especially because I'm doing law and phil/academia.

I'm just trying to get into the highest V-ranked firm and Chicago has a much lower cost of living...
You're forgetting about the lay-prestige of saving that 200k and putting it towards being able to say "I drive a Bugatti..."WhiteGuy5 wrote:Curious1 wrote:I think for academia Harvard has the definite edge, especially with their super generous LIPP.kulshan wrote: +1, especially because I'm doing law and phil/academia.

It would feel really awesome to get a Ruby from Chicago.
...but 10x more so to be able to turn one down. no?
jk btw. there's no way to add a dollar value to lay prestige so it's all person-dependent. can't go wrong either way really. The question is...do you want to say "I went to Harvard" 40 years from now or "I went to Chicago."
No doubt about it. I think my family would murder me if I turned down Harvard. Since they're paying for it I can live with turning down any amount of moneyWhiteGuy5 wrote:Curious1 wrote:I think for academia Harvard has the definite edge, especially with their super generous LIPP.kulshan wrote: +1, especially because I'm doing law and phil/academia.

Thanks for the info.soj wrote:From last year's thread: they invite you to apply by email. The application process includes a phone interview. They email you the results later. There were TLSers who got Rubies as late as mid-March.
Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.
