Hey guys, I'm new to TLS. Thanks for making this nifty gathering spot for applicants.
Do any of you spend time in the lounge? I hear it's scary.

Don't worry about the lounge. We can all hang out in here and on Fridays I'll make tuna melts and it'll be just like Jimmy's. Except we can't play cards. Sorry. That's a house rule.

My friend was talking about only taking the December test, he just graduated from the college in June. It seems like he'd still have a good chance, as most get accepted in mid January.

Well, most of us who got accepted then applied in October/November. This year in particular, people who applied late tended to get waitlisted (and many of them were accepted off of the WL, but a lot of people with great #s got WL'd where they would have just been accepted before).

Appreqs indicates that, in the past, the Chicago application has become available on August 15. Can we expect to have the app available already on Monday?

Just hashed together a decision date graph for the 2010-2011 cycle. Took data from LSN and it looks like the majority of decisions came Jan 10, with the next highest in Feb 10.
ETA: Editing the graph around to make it more informative.

I would think a Why Chicago statement would be superfluous when applying ED. I don't have any information on it, just my feeling that they already know you are 100% committed and believe it to be the best place for you. If you have the time and some compelling reasons, I am sure it won't hurt though. I guess I wouldn't worry either way.
