Methodist in name only. Whoever said that is wildly misinformed.

Also, what thread? Curious.
It was Taipei Mort who said it. One of the bazillion T14 or bust arguments that diverged into non t14s that are acceptable. I may try to find it again after work. Too hard on my phone.

As to the comment regrding the hard-partying tailgating, I think you got lost in the Greek Life tailgate. The professional school tailgates (law, business, etc.) are a little tamer than that. Still free booze, but rather than pretzels and brats there's catered "party" food.

But by all means, head over to the greek life section if that's what you're looking for. I think during the first tailgate I blended in a little too much in my white sundress and cowboy boots. Some guys tried to get me to do the octobong with them.

of course I said yes, and I did it faster than almost all of them. I might be in law school, but I'm not lame.

Tailgates are fun just gotta be sneaky around the law school tent or they will cut you off far too early (like 4 beers deep). The scene around the undergrad tents is pretty awesome and easy to be a part of. Most law students don't go to the actual games but tend to just head out to other bars after and watch all the games going on. Its a great way to spend a Saturday with plenty of nice scenery.

Everyone who has said the social scene is what you make it is absolutely correct. Among us 1Ls there are a lot of us who socialize after class and go out anytime from Thursday to Saturday. We all have a lot of fun and there are always different places to go and different groups to hang out with. Brunch is also big here in Dallas and when its nice outside the pool scene at the various apartment complexes can be enjoyable as well. People here tend to like each other and want the best for everyone.

Also there are people who make awesome baked goods and share with the class.

I'M a 3.05/164. If SMU gives me that, I would probably be in Dallas this fall (assuming UIUC doesn't like me).

Checking in - Has there been much movement at SMU? Anybody that applied RD heard back yet? I was one of the people who got the "application completed" date change on 1/23/12. Not sure what that means, if anything.

Status checker updated for me on January 31st telling me I was accepted, so I'm guessing others should have been notified too.

I applied RD, got the 1/23 update, and was admitted a couple of days ago.

Right here. Will be reviewed after regular application deadline.
Kind of defeats the purpose of early decision.

Someone mentioned on the last page that they had. Your scholarship info will be included in your admission package. They started mailing them out at the end of this past week, I think, so if you've been admitted you should get it fairly soon.

We have the weirdest mailman in our area (635 and tollway). He is just a weird dude. In addition, some days (not Sundays) no one in our neighborhood gets any mail. Never bothered me before. Today it bothered me.

I used to have the best mailman. He even brought my dog back one day in his truck when she escaped. About a year ago they changed everything up. I have this awful old lady now. Some days no one in my neighborhood gets mail either and when we do it's usually after five. I think we're the end of her route and she just quits if she's running late.
