I would still apply with your GPA. There's a lot of people here who have been saying that schools don't actually average. Not sure how true that is for H

They don't average, don't worry. Just write an addendum explaining the score increase, and you'll be fine.

I thought the pre-Thanksgiving crowd was auto-admits?

I was thinking....The fact that I got into the first round of interviews makes me think they're really more holistic in the application than everyone thinks they are and not just a numbers game. Maybe your personal statement/references mean more to them then we think they do. I guess it remains to be seen how I do with actually getting in though :)

I think people may just be reading too much into it... I HIGHLY doubt it's because they care about softs more than we think they do. That would be my last conclusion.

Anyway, woke up. Checked email. No JR1. Little surprised to see no one else update with one yet either.

Write an addendum? I thought the general consensus was that this was a bad idea, especially if you don't have a compelling reason for the lower score. I had a jump of eight points (over a period of more than two years), and my only explanation is that I wasn't as prepared as I should have been the first time around and got a bit sleepy late in the exam. Do you think an honest addendum would have actually helped?

In any case, I haven't written one for any of the schools I've applied to, and I don't plan on doing so for any of the ones I've got left. Browsing through profiles on LSN, it seems like H is willing to consider the higher score alone (a few profiles state explicitly that they had a big jump).

according to last year's thread, I think they do that once per a few weeks, not everyday. so we should all try to be cool

Ah, so the next interview e-mails will go out in 2 weeks time. OK. We've seen 10 or so e-mails so far on TLS.

sounds about right. actually for the first wave, we may already had a few more JR1s, compare to last year.. my bet is next Thursday (or Fri)

This make me very very sad.

Would the next few waves also be considered the "pre-Thanksgiving" crowd and are therefore more likely to get KB2's or have we already missed that boat?

Thought I'd throw my hat in the rink because I'm getting my app in, in a few days.

Good luck to everyone!

Considering that there were people who applied last year and the year before on Nov 1 or 2 and were still included in the pre-Thanksgiving admits, I think it's safe to assume that they will be sending out more e-mails. In the past, they've sent the interview invites out on a rolling basis, not all on one day.

That said, I submitted 10/30 and still haven't gone complete, so I may have missed the boat on this one...

This thread has skyrocketed to the top of my 'daily read list' now on par with the NYT. And, I can't even apply until Dec.

Sad truth. But Congrats to all the KB1's and good luck to the rest of you!

(1)I'm not sure this year's "pre-thanksgiving" means the same thing as last year because it's almost a month later.
(2)BUT, I believe the NEXT wave is still going to be "pre-thanksgiving", because there is plenty of time to make the decision (which is largely unrelated to the interview)
(3)BUT, if HLS still give out JR1s in the order of date the application submitted (which seemed to be the case last year), those who submitted before 10/2 or UR before 10/14 may already lost their chance.
(4)BUT, It's still possible that since they begin JR1 a month later, they've got too many JR1-qualified applicants (who submitted before 10/2 or UR before 10/14) and need to divide them into 2 waves.

BTW, I think whoever make analysis like this is soooo pathetic

Saw this pop up on the frontpage and remembered going through this two years ago... So I thought it'd be helpful to provide some answers (based on what I know about the process/applicants from last couple of years):

-HLS doesn't directly average multiple LSATs but it doesn't just take your highest either... More of a weigh the highest heavily, but also take a look at the rest of them

-Emails for JR1s are on a fairly random timeline. (As in you might get your email two weeks after somebody else who submitted the same date or a person who submitted later might get one earlier)

-Based on last couple of years, pre-Thanksgiving JR1s are not presumed autoadmits, but might have a slightly higher chance of a final JR2. I remember there was one or two pre-Thanksgiving JR1s that were eventually waitlisted, but most eventually got JR2. Granted this is out of the TLS sample of say like 15-20 people so anecdotal.

This is good news.
