Until you get a decision, HLS is not done reviewing people. At least that's my opinion, especially given the tone of the hold email. Paraphrased: "We will get back to u when we can, but u might still be waiting at the end of April."
Don't lose hope! Just try to focus on the awesome acceptances u have and then you will be pleasantly surprised when u get the email...or at least that's what I tell myself:-)

Does offering to do humiliating things in return for an acceptance qualify as a LOCI?

+1 Barraged my partner with dozens of hypotheticals about what he/I could/n't do for an acceptance.

I would do them in public... I'd dance naked in front of the Admissions Office....

Is it safe to say they've filled up most of their class and at this point we don't have a legit shot?

Yes, they've filled up most of their class. That being said, I guess anyone still in the running has a shot...

Yep... "most of their class" isn't "all of their class."

If you look at last year's LSN, they were done with regular offers of admission by April 1st. There were about three weeks of rejections (not all at once it looks like), then waitlists on April 21st. The first and largest wave of waitlist acceptances came just two weeks later, then a few more in the months after, even a few in late August.

However, the timeline looks a bit different this year, due to [speculation]. At some points along the cycle they have been running a few weeks later than normal, so it might be that the last regular JS1 invites might be a week or two later than last year. But I would assume they've got to finish sometime close to where they did last year, so I would guess that sometime soon they will sync up with last year's pace.

Personally, I'm just hoping for a waitlist. But every afternoon when I check my e-mail for the first time of the day I brace myself for that rejection e-mail.

Have any KB1s been followed with a rejection yet?

Nah. As far as I know, still on hold. But I sent in my deposit to UVa today, so...yeah.

Hey, everyone who has had an interview and is still waiting to hear back, can you list the date of your interview?

Hey everybody, long time lurker here. I'm curious if anybody has had any success with getting a decision from HLS after informing them of a scholarship deadline. I got selected last week for a really great public interest scholly at a slightly lower ranked school and informed HLS today (by email, and got a reply back too, classic "no promises"), but I'm supposed to commit by the end of this week!

Anybody have anything positive to say to make me less anxious about having to potentially withdraw from my dream school without a decision being rendered? I can't see myself turning down the scholly offer without an HLS acceptance in my pocket, but I am not optimistic about my chances by the end of this week.

You don't have to withdraw pending applications to accept a scholarship. You only need to withdraw from schools to which you've already been accepted. The schools may try to pressure you to do so, but you have no obligation to. You will probably lose your deposit if you get into Harvard and decide to attend though.

+1! I still read Asha's blog despite my rejection from YLS a couple of months ago. :)

Me toos. UVa's got quite the game going with the April 6th deposit date for scholarships- though I'd walk away from my UVa scholly and that $500 deposit in a heartbeat if Harvard moves in my favor. Harvard made some big moves on holds around the 15th or so last year if I recall correctly, offering interviews to a ton of people the first day or two, then pretty much waitlisting the rest shortly thereafter. It might take a little longer this time around given the cycle.

Thanks sailboat, that helps a lot...my only concern after reading that: do you think that a scholarship offer that is not necessarily from the school's financial aid office, but an organization within the school (the public interest center) would still qualify under those rules?

You're fine, it's the same situation. It's not like if you withdraw they don't have anyone else to take the money. They'll just call up an alternate and pocket your deposit money.

Were some held applicants rejected? Think the movement will apply to the "new" holds (late March and on)/is the entire group of holds looked at together or are earlier/later holds divided as such? Thanks!

Quick Question,

I am the speaker of the house of my ug and we just put together a new participatory budget that is the first of its kind in any college across the country. Supposedly its a big thing

I am currently on hold at HLS should i update my file with this new information or is it to late not worth it?

I have already sent them a LOCI

Considering you have already sent them a LOCI and decisions will be coming in the next week or two, I would hold off on this for if you get WL. That way you would have something to frame another letter around.
