How 'bout some KB love for beginning of March JS1s? Seems unlikely, but I can dream, right?

Does HLS look at holds in chronological order? Somehow I thought there was one giant hold pile, or that held applicants were divided into groups based upon different characteristics (e.g. URM status).

That's what I'm thinking. I'm guessing they're actually divided by characteristics...Geneva wrote:Does HLS look at holds in chronological order? Somehow I thought there was one giant hold pile, or that held applicants were divided into groups based upon different characteristics (e.g. URM status).

Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
Hi all, I got my interview email this afternoon at around 4 PM. I applied on January 17 and was "complete" on February 16 and hadn't heard anything from them until today.
Getting the interview was a big surprise for me. My LSAT is at their 75th percentile but my GPA is below their 25th percentile. I'm not an URM, and my work experience/softs are fairly good (in my opinion haha) but not jaw-dropping.
So, maybe this will provide hope for others!

Hmm two low GPA KB1s. Maybe they're going through the splitter pile? I can hope...hazedandconfused wrote:Hi all, I got my interview email this afternoon at around 4 PM. I applied on January 17 and was "complete" on February 16 and hadn't heard anything from them until today.

Yeah I hope so too, but maybe these were the people they chose to fill their splitter requirements...aekea wrote:Hmm two low GPA KB1s. Maybe they're going through the splitter pile? +1. Also wondering if you (nbagirl) sent in a LOCI, and if so, how soon after your hold? Congrats!Doorkeeper wrote:Truth, especially since a fellow 75/25 hold person got a KB1, and I'm left out in the cold.EMZE wrote:seems like a good number of KB1 emails went out. Hope is dwindling RAPIDLY.

What does everyone think for either KB1/JS1 no KB2/JS2 folks? I'm a December KB1-January hold at median for both GPA and LSAT. I think K-JD status and a slightly underwhelming interview is what did me in, but who can know. I know in past years there have been some people who got interviewed, held, and then in months later. Anyone in this situation?

Also, this seems to confirm that this round of Hold to KB1s were splitters.

On the people's therapist article, I wonder whether a Harvard JD is even worth the punishment of a biglaw job and 200k in debt. I personally feel anything less than a HYS JD is definitely not worth that price.

If you think the job is a punishment, why are you going to law school?encaenia wrote:On the people's therapist article, I wonder whether a Harvard JD is even worth the punishment of a biglaw job and 200k in debt. I personally feel anything less than a HYS JD is definitely not worth that price.
Also--new KB1s: congratulations! How low of GPAs are we talking about here?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
