I was also held this morning - what does a hold mean at Harvard? Impending rejection or eventual WL?

I don't think this was the kind of movement we were hoping for Harvard haha But join us over in the Held thread!ScratchableItch wrote:Also held this morning. Submitted last week of October.

Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
Any TLS anecdotal consensus at this point on what might be happening with medians at HLS this year (i.e., any movement based on smaller applicant pool)? I'm a bit of a splitter with >75% LSAT but around the 25% for GPA, and I'm sending in my application way late (late this week or early next), so I'm just wondering how the accepted pool is filling out so far. Hoping they've been shoring up high GPAs and need some high LSATs...

Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
It's very hard to tell if the medians will move given how early it is, but so far the vast majority of the KB1s have gone to people with very high GPAs. Only a handful of 3.7x folks have gotten them.jd5 wrote:Any TLS anecdotal consensus at this point on what might be happening with medians at HLS this year (i.e., any movement based on smaller applicant pool)? Not to be overly optimistic, but it seems like everyone held so far today has pretty strong numbers... right?

If I send a GPA update should I ask my school to send an official transcript to Harvard or LSAC or is it enough just to email their admission office with a scan of my transcript? And I'm assuming that a LOCI or why Harvard isn't going to help much right? Thanks for the help and good luck to everyone still waiting!
I sent my transcript to lsac. They make a new report and send it to the schools still considering you. At least that is how I understand it. I sent them (hls) a short thing telling them about my grades so at least they know. Good luck!

Early November. Judging from other who have been held this morning, I'd say I'm in good company.Mr. Somebody wrote:Lovely Ludwig Van wrote:Ahh, yes. Held at last. Excellent.

Elendil and 'wig, y'all have really excellent stats! It seems like all schools are making heavy use of WL's and holds this time around.
With all you people getting held, though, I'm starting to worry about my own status... where's my HOLD!?

Everyone who got held this morning and doesn't have stats in profile, what are you numbers (just ballpark if you want).

Will HLS please stop with this ambiguity and give out some real decisions already??

You applied to only two schools?Lovely Ludwig Van wrote: Early November. Judging from other who have been held this morning, I'd say I'm in good company.

Yeah, I have kind of a weird plan. If I don't get in this year, I will open it up to other schools next year. I'm serving with AmeriCorps and have a relatively late end date that precludes attending most other T14 schools. Plus I wouldn't want to defer cuz then I'd lose scholarship $. S and H are the only schools I'd feel comfortable about attending base don 0 to very little $.Blessedassurance wrote:You applied to only two schools?Lovely Ludwig Van wrote: Early November. No hold here. I submitted mid-November, so I guess either they haven't gotten to me yet or I'm about to get rejected.Lovely Ludwig Van wrote:Yeah, I have kind of a weird plan. I was going to apply to only HYS but I didn't have the balls, really. I had entirely different career plans if I didn't get into one. Luckily, I got into H. I should have stuck to my original plan. Why didn't you apply to Y? Your numbers make you competitive, I think.Lovely Ludwig Van wrote:Yeah, I have kind of a weird plan. Wow, it sounds like they're definitely holding some awesome applications. Maybe there will be more hold action this year.Elendil wrote:Thanks, shooter! Don't worry just yet, I'm sure you will hear news soon!
