Uh, not sure what the point of this is... UG institution is going to very rarely matter.

That was the point. I was just asking if that were the case or not because those numbers seemed outside of the typically accepted bracket so it just seemed weird that it happened twice at the same school. *shrug*

Guess that answers it though, just coincidence I guess.

3.9+ GPAs routinely get into NYU with sub-170 LSATs.

Does NYU go UR before Complete? Or did I just skip complete and go from received to UR?

I went straight to UR. Submitted 11/3, received a couple of days later, and UR on 11/14; nothing in between.

It just occurred to me that 2 out of 3 of my recommendation writers graduated from NYU. I don't know if they indicated their alma mater's names on their letters, though. I know my one non-NYU LOR writer did but I didn't read the others. Anyway... Could this help me in any way?

Just so you guys know, NYU is heavily recruiting women this cycle after a disastrous yield for the Class of 2014 (60/40 M/F ratio)... Part of that was due to the fact that simply not as many accepted female students came, but there was also the fact that women only made up 45% of the admitted students. I wouldn't be surprised if this cycle they were a bit more lenient on LSATs for female applicants (the article discussing this in the student run newspaper mentioned that female applicants had a lower LSAT average for unknown reasons) and were correspondingly a little tougher for males to keep their numbers in balance. It probably won't have that big of an effect, but if your LSAT score makes you borderline it might come into play because they pretty much cannot allow that to happen again.

If this is true, I may have more than a 5% chance at admission now. :D

The year before our class was bad as well (current 2L class). So this is a good point to make. I think NYU is a little embarrassed about the whole thing, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if they push pretty hard to get more women.

Yeah, I see this having the biggest effect with female applicants with median or above GPAs and decent other things who scored 168-170 on their LSAT. NYU doesn't really like to admit those with sub-170 LSATs in the early rounds to protect their #s (they start going for them later on particularly off the WL when they have a better idea of how those lower scores will affect their bottom line). For male applicants with 168-170 scores, this is probably bad news.

Sweet, white male 170 right here. The lack of any good news at all today is really disheartening.

4.0s are nice though. If you think about it, there won't be a lot of applicants with 170s that are admitted before you. Good luck!

Yeah, if NYU won't have you, there is a very good chance Chicago will...

Applied ED. Male 4.0/168/2 years f500 WE. Knew it was a long shot from the get go--but this news about the M/F ratio seems to seal it even more. :/ Guess I'll probobally wind up at Michigan. GL all!

Last year people who went under review around this time that were accepted seem to have heard throughout December with the first decisions going out December 6th.

Decisions may come out this week right? Cuz looking at LSN some people heard on Dec 1st.
I know this cycle has been termed unique but am I wrong to think this?

Hoping for some ED movement soon. Do decisions always come via snail mail?

From what I've heared, yeah. Though I think the status checker is supposed to update to say your decision was sent.

Ahh, you are right. I hope we hear this week or next!!
ETA: looks from last year that some people had their status checker change on Dec 3.
