I got into NYU but I have an offer for a full-ride to Indiana University. What are you guys' opinions on what I should do? I already have a ton of loan debt from undergrad and I've never even been to NY, so it's a little intimidating- especially in regards to housing. But NYU would probably get me around $60,000 more of starting salary. Any thoughts on factors that should weigh more than others?
For starters, wait until NYU sends out their financial aid packages. Once those come out, the fun begins. I'm not sure how easy it is to negotiate aid with NYU, but let them know about your other scholarships and see if they offer you anything. Then, when you know what your actual choices are, start pondering what is more important to you.
And of course realize that starting salary is based on self-reported data from the lucky students who got jobs. Your chances of finding employment are definitely better out of NYU.
Also, visit. New York City allegedly isn't for everyone (but really, it's one of the very best places in the world.) Hope that helps.
