That's so encouraging to hear! I've been UR since mid Dec. and hearing about folks who submitted after me getting in before I've heard a word was hugely discouraging. Congrats, and thanks for the lift in spirits!

In via phone just now. Couldn't believe it. Status checker 1/17 and such a quick turnaround.

Hi me too! The anxiety is enough to make me emerge from my usual lurker status. If I have to wait for the physical letter I will scream-I'm in California and my mail is slooow. If we are indeed rejected, should we at least expect an email today?

Pretty sure rejections come by email. What are your stats, if you don't mind me asking?

Stats: 3.8ish and 170. So I'm guessing a wl is heading my way, although my softs are solid.

Hmph. Not sure why they'd do a DLS for the WL. I'm going to preemptively congratulate you!

Thanks- Just checked again and I got on the ASW !!!!! No call yet, but I'll get excited anyway. I wasn't getting my hopes up for NYU (considered it a reach), but now it's looking like my #1 :)
I was UR 1/24 for the record.

Alriiiight logged into ASW. Hoping that this definitely means I'm accepted because I'm preemptively celebrating

Stuck at 12/14. :( Tempted to email and ask if they received my updated LSAT score (though I'm pretty positive they did) just to have some kind of communication...

Hey guys,

I got into NYU but I have an offer for a full-ride to Indiana University. What are you guys' opinions on what I should do? I already have a ton of loan debt from undergrad and I've never even been to NY, so it's a little intimidating- especially in regards to housing. But NYU would probably get me around $60,000 more of starting salary. Any thoughts on factors that should weigh more than others?

Just curious where the $60,000 figure came from.

Stats on multiple websites show NYU median salary around $160k and IU around $99k (private sector). Does that not sound right to you? I might have been looking at something wrong.

Those stats are beyond meaningless.

ETA: Think of about the markets both schools place the majority of their students in, and then think about the difference in COL. When you're done with that, remind yourself that those stats are still meaningless.

For starters, wait until NYU sends out their financial aid packages. Once those come out, the fun begins. I'm not sure how easy it is to negotiate aid with NYU, but let them know about your other scholarships and see if they offer you anything. Then, when you know what your actual choices are, start pondering what is more important to you.

And of course realize that starting salary is based on self-reported data from the lucky students who got jobs. Your chances of finding employment are definitely better out of NYU.

Also, visit. New York City allegedly isn't for everyone (but really, it's one of the very best places in the world.) Hope that helps.

Got the "Decision Letter Sent" status earlier today. A few hours later, in via ASW!!!!!

I really can't believe it. If I can convince my wife, I'll be at NYU this fall.

okay so I got an email today saying that my application will be on hold until i sent in transcripts from one school that I had listed as an financial obligation with lsac. She said they look at my app until it is in.
My question is, is this a good sign? they could have just denied me if I had no chance. The transcript is only for one semester and its not like it is going to affect my gpa much. (it is actually only about .03 lower than my lsac gpa). So should I take this as a good sign? or it just a formality before I get a rejection notice.
Also should I send them my unofficial first right now or wait for my official to clear with lsac?

I would say choose IU, but only because I want another seat to open up for my potential acceptance
