You probably won't get one for a little while, if I remember correctly (and they operate the same as last year).Hawkeye Pierce wrote:Not yet. None from Mich either.dabird122 wrote:anyone get an NYU status checker email yet? None here.

I just sent in my ED app, and am applying to RTK. anyone know how the scholarships are decided? (178/3.79 but I'm relatively average in terms of 'diversity' factors)

Why did you apply ED with those numbers?xlawschoolhopefulx wrote:I just sent in my ED app, and am applying to RTK. anyone know how the scholarships are decided? (178/3.79 but I'm relatively average in terms of 'diversity' factors)

NYU is my absolute top choice, and I don't want to go anywhere else, so I figured why not apply ED and just know where I'm going to get things over with. Is that really so bad?

Yes, unless your family is paying for law school and you wouldn't be able to use the money for anything else.xlawschoolhopefulx wrote:NYU is my absolute top choice, and I don't want to go anywhere else, so I figured why not apply ED and just know where I'm going to get things over with. You're not getting the scholarship because you EDed, they already know they have you. LOL.xlawschoolhopefulx wrote:NYU is my absolute top choice, and I don't want to go anywhere else, so I figured why not apply ED and just know where I'm going to get things over with. Is that really so bad?
You were already an auto-acceptance early December. I don't even....

Seriously. You should have been like:Tiago Splitter wrote:Yes, unless your family is paying for law school and you wouldn't be able to use the money for anything else.xlawschoolhopefulx wrote:NYU is my absolute top choice, and I don't want to go anywhere else, so I figured why not apply ED and just know where I'm going to get things over with. "Yo, NYU, I really want to go to you, but I have an acceptance to Harvard in one pocket and a full ride from [Michigan] in the other. I really want to go to NYU, but I'm not sure. What can you do for me?
And that's when they're like:
How would you like a shitload of money? Would that put you in purple?
And you just nod, and laugh on the inside.

Did anyone read this with a voice other than Sylvester Stallone in their head? Sly really captures the essence.Yeshia90 wrote:You should have been like:

This is false. The named scholarships are a completely separate process.Hawkeye Pierce wrote:You're not getting the scholarship because you EDed, they already know they have you. On the bright side, you're very safe for NYU ED. Enjoy NYU; it's a great school. And if birdlaw is right (and I've heard this from some others, too), you should be in the running for the named scholarships.

Heading to an info session/tour tomorrow afternoon. Provided I don't have an intense guttural reaction of pure hatred, I'll be sending in my ED form early next week.

Some people received scholarships who applied ED last year at NYU. They weren't RTK scholarships, but at least it is some money!

Yeah, some people also received 30K, which seems to be the standard non-named scholarship amount.SA1928 wrote:Some people received scholarships who applied ED last year at NYU. They weren't RTK scholarships, but at least it is some money!

Re: NYU Class of 2015 Applicants
Fair enough. It still seems like it would lessen the likelihood of receiving a named scholarship, though. They already have you reeled in, there's no reason for them to give you a ton of money.birdlaw117 wrote: This is false. The named scholarships are a completely separate process.
Regardless of that factor, however, it is still a dumb decision. Those numbers would most likely yield an acceptance at Harvard as well as a shot at Yale and Stanford. It's kind of ridiculous to fall that much in love with a school before you even attend. But whatever.

Re: NYU Class of 2015 Applicants
Definitely, especially considering a large swathe of NYU was cut out of OCIs this year. I honestly don't know what there is to love...unless you love super-expensive living and non-coherent campus life. But maybe his family have gone there for like 7 generations and his dad (or grandfather) is one of the WLRKHawkeye Pierce wrote:Fair enough.
