I'm in at UT (w/ $ off the wait-list) with almost the exact same gpa and a 173. So if you can bring up your lsat score, you definitely have a chance. Non-URM, trad student. Just take a lot of time crafting a really solid application, visit, and express a whole lot of interest in attending UT.

You give me hope! Thanks.

Now if only October brings me a 173...

Hey everybody! A 3.09/175 (targeted) here!

I made a splitter guide over in the content competition forum. I'd love for you guys to check it out and give me your thoughts.
viewtopic.php?f=22&t=162680

Back to the thread...Looking at LSN, last cycle looked a little more splitter-friendly than normal. With the documented decrease in June LSAT test takers and the expected drop in applications, anyone else feel that this will be an even friendlier cycle for splitters?

Here's to hoping. If the downward trend in applicants continues, schools will have to rely on splitters to maintain their medians.

4.0/165 (The 165 was a retake. My first score was a 161. I really don't want to retake again, but this site tempts me.)

As a side note, good luck to everyone taking the LSAT in October!

Reaches/Targets:

Michigan :)
UCLA
Northwestern
Notre Dame (Safety maybe?)

Safeties:

MSU (My original top choice and super tempting if I get $$$ because I could live at home.)
Alabama
Lewis and Clark

If I were you, I'd apply to more reverse splitter friendly schools. I think BU and most California schools (Boalt, etc) fit in this category. Cornell is reverse splitter friendly as well, I believe. (:

Not totally sure if I qualify -- my LSAT is not as high as I'd hoped -- but I'll post in here anyway.

3.22/165 (retaking in October)

Non-URM. 2 years WE. LGBT-based PS.

I'm hoping to score 170+ in October to give myself a shot at Georgetown, my number 1 choice. I'm hoping with an ED application and a higher LSAT, I might stand a chance. We'll see.

Also looking at: George Mason, GW, and American. My SO has better job prospects in DC than she would in smaller towns (which rules out W&M and W&L) so I'm mainly targeting that area. Also looking at Emory, since my girlfriend is from Atlanta (and her dad is a lawyer there, so I'd have some connections there off the bat), and Wisconsin because I think I'd like Madison.

I'm not totally sure where else to look, honestly.

We'll see! I think I'm in for an interesting cycle.

I'm not too extreme a splitter but here goes:

168, 3.44

Reach: Cornell

Targets:
-Minnesota
-BU
-BC
(Hoping to have $$/choose between the above three)
-Wisco
-Boulder
-Considering applying to W&M

Safety:
-William Mitchell

Splitter from last cycle here to echo others. Get your apps in early, show your enthusiasm for a school, speak directly to key admissions personnel if you get waitlisted or it's getting late in the cycle and you haven't received a decision, and apply broadly - even to schools you don't necessarily want to attend, as a scholarship offer from, say, Cornell, can be leveraged into a scholarship offer from Texas or Duke, for example.

For reference, I was a 3.4x/172 and got into UVA, Duke, Penn, Northwestern, Georgetown, Cornell with money, Texas with money, Vanderbilt with money, waitlisted-->denied at NYU, UCLA, USC, Chicago, Michigan, and straight up denied at Berkeley, my top choice.

If you want to get into a splitter-unfriendly school like, well any California school, you better do some outside-the-box thinking and try to bring something special to the table. Also, A LOT of people get off waitlists. Show serious interest, be patient, visit, talk to the Director of Admissions, etc. In my case, I was probably not getting into NYU or Chicago either way, but I might have gotten into, say, Michigan, if I had driven all the way to Ann Arbor and spoken to Dean Z. That approach worked with UVA, anyways, though I was not offered a scholarship and decided to turn it down.

3.15 GPA, aiming for a 170 on the October test. Took the June test and got a 160 but was finishing my Masters and teaching high school 50 hours a week.

Aiming for GULC, GW or Northwestern (come on work experience!)

6 years of teaching high school government, Master's in Secondary Education - Social Studies.

also applying to BU,BC, Fordham, and UNC.

Any other suggestions for schools to apply for? Thinking about either Educational Employment law or Federal Prosecution/Litigation

3.3x/taking in october

Currently on file I have a 157 but I've been averaging 167 over my last few PTs. Hoping for a better cycle this year.

+1, except I won't be a 3.3x until after this semester.

BU and BC are going to be tough. Fordham is a little murky at your numbers, as is UNC, especially if you're not a resident. GULC and NU are also iffy at 170, but solid at 171+. You're solid at GW.

It looks like you want east coast? You could always give the UVa ED route a try. Vanderbilt has a very soft GPA floor, so they're worth an app too. If you don't mind the Midwest, you could take your pick of scholarship offers at WUSTL, UIUC or IU-B.

I am looking East Coast. Very interested in the DC area. Was your UVa ED suggestion sarcasm? I've only been on the forum for a little while and people seem to joke about the UVa ED as a go to option for anyone.

I'm a NC resident but not sure I want to stay here and UNC doesn't seem to have as much mobility region to region with employment. I might try as hard as I can to put up a 170+ in October so that I have a little bit of wiggle room with applications.

Only if he's also URM and not just a numbers twin, though.

3.2X/171

applying to Michigan-->BU, [minus] Duke, UT and USC; [plus] Fordham, Hastings and W&M

goal: snag at least one T14.

Here's to hoping, and good luck to everyone else.

Reverse splitter here..

168/3.8X

My dreams of Columbia and NYU are pretty much crushed at this point, so we'll see what happens!

Mild splitter here! 3.5x/17x. I'll be happy to have either Michigan and Northwestern, though I have pipe dreams of acceptances at NYU or Chicago.

3.2X/167 here. Crossing my fingers I perform more like my Practice Tests in October (high 170s). After that, need to decide if

1. it's worthwhile to ED anywhere and pay sticker for my prosecution goals and utilize an LRAP or take money somewhere lower and
2. if I want to remain in the PA/NJ/NY area, severely limiting my options and likely resulting in an ED to Penn since my other choices would be T2 (Rutgers/Temple/Nova/Dozo) or the notoriously stingy Fordham.
