If you want to work in CA (especially SoCal), $100k from UCLA is a fantastic offer. One that I would take over all of the lower T14 (including Cal) and very possible CCN.

I think it is your 169 LSAT that did you in at most of the T14.

I'd say take UCLA and 90k. T-14 is less of a "end all be all" than a consistent list of the top 14 law schools. Outside of the top 6, I'd say UCLA is competitive with the vast majority of the top 14 and I don't think your numbers are going to get you similar money outside of maybe cornell. I could be wrong, though, so TLSers feel free to correct me.

people seriously overdo the importance of t-14 in these threads. take the money.

Originally UCLA was my top choice, but I think I've been slightly influenced by the t-14 or bust mentality of TLS. so lets get to the question:

I've so far not been accepted to a school higher ranked than UCLA (but I only applied to 1 super reach of HYS, and then Berkeley, Duke, & Cornell). I'm interested in working in California long-term but am not opposed to living elsewhere. They offered me a $90,000 scholarship that's contingent on maintaining a 2.5 GPA, and I qualified for another 9k in grant aid. I'm also really interested in one of their specializations, my significant other has ties to the LA area, and the weather is fabulous. I have a 4.0+ gpa and a 169 LSAT score, average softs but no real work experience.

So, is my apprehension unmerited? Should I just be thrilled with this opportunity? Should I wait a year and apply next cycle (assuming my nerves can take it)? Or would I likely have the same results from the t-14, plus have lost UCLA's favor for blowing them off the first time, ergo no merit aid? I could use a fresh perspective.

EDIT: I'm sorry this got accidentally posted in the wrong forum!
If and only if you want California.

you are certifiable if you don't want 90k from UCLA.
