Just received another non update update


I hope this message finds you well and enjoying the summer. As
promised, I'm writing to give you an update on the waiting list
situation at Georgetown University Law Center.

Although this e-mail didn't begin with the word "Congratulations,"
I'm still hopeful that good news will arrive soon. Unfortunately,
our June 1 deposit deadline is still a week away, and, while I had
hoped to know more by now, it's still too soon to know what spaces
will become available. I do think it is more likely than not that
there will be at least a few openings but I'm just not sure right now.


Even though we've asked before, we know that deadlines loom for you,
and your plans may have changed. So, would you please e-mail us once
more confirming your level of interest? Since it's getting late in
the cycle, please note that the Committee will only be interested in
offering spaces to those who, if admitted, would be sure to enroll at
Georgetown.

As you know by now, we like to keep in touch-I will send you an
update by June 7 at the very latest, but I'm hopeful that I'll have
news for you earlier. If you can't wait until then, let us know. If
there are any changes in your law school enrollment plans or summer
contact info, please let us know by email to lawwaitlist@law.

Same thing happened to me for my scholly. After 2 letters telling me it was coming and three more postponing and asking me to reaffirm my interest, I just withdrew. I don't really get the strategy. Good luck to all of you.

I would say those that should have the most hope are those that received there last couple emails from Cornblatt followed by the Sophia one followed by those that didn't receive a "small group" email ever. I was on the SPWL and am in the last group after sending 3 or 4 emails of interest and never receiving feedback.

If you're still actually interested I would give them a call and ask what gives. Doesn't seem like it can hurt at this point.

I don't understand their use of the multiple waitlists at all. Or the multiple emails with differing levels of optimism. All the mixed messages have been really off-putting. I'd rather not hear from them at all than to keep getting these contradictory emails.

I predict the admission chances of the various groups are:

1% - Small group/Andy/Andy emails
0.1% - Small group/Andy/Sophia emails
0.01% - Small group/Sophia emails
0.001% - No small group email

This! I want to know how many people have gotten the small group/ Andy/ Andy emails, mostly because of their overt optimism. I am normally pretty cautious about getting my hopes up, but each email is so positive. I would hope that they would consider how much we all have invested in this when drafting the emails. I.e. I would hope they would not use such overtly positive language if they didn't think there was a good chance of being able to offer us spots.

Edited...only one acceptance reported on TLS June 7th last year. None reported after that and most people released from the waitlist by June 28th. Good luck to those still waiting!

Of course, I'm not going to make it any easier on them by withdrawing...

In fairness it must be hard to allocate the perfect number of seats...at this point why not wait until after the deadline, count the deposits, and offer a perfect number for however many spots they have. Ive been waiting on GULC since December, I can wait two more weeks.

But about that other deposit that needs to be mailed in...
