It will be a change if more than 2 or 3 are taken off the wait list. I doubt we'll be able to see just how many are taken off the list any time soon if only because LSNers represent what; 10-15% of the total applicant pool? Still, it gives one hope! 8) :? 8) It would also be nice if the folks on LSN would update if they have already withdrawn.  :!:

I know of at least 5 people already taken off......so I think that there has been significant movement

Will you go? Or have you fallen in love with SMU and Dallas?

I'm going. I really do like SMU and Dallas, but I know myself. If I turned this down, I would be thinking "what if?" for the rest of my life.

Some good news for all you guys.

Got accepted off the waitlist on Friday.

Jason (the guys who i spoke to) was an awesome guy and we had a great convo. I asked about scholarship $, and he said its not typical off the waitlist but some funds have freed up and since I would probably receive $ as a regular admit they could give me some as a waitlist admit. (They matched my offer to peer schools).

Anyway, decided it still wasnt enough and uva isnt for me, so there is probably a spot for one of you.

Best of luck everyone

Thank you for your patience during our wait-list process. Our second deposits are due on June 15 and we will reassess whether we need to make any wait-list offers after that date.

Hi all! I posted this in the UVA Class of 2014 thread and would like your advice as well. Feel free to respond here or PM me. Thanks!

UVA has been my dream school since I decided I wanted to be a lawyer. I applied to UVA ED this cycle with about a .0001% chance of getting admitted. I've taken the LSAT twice(low 150s and 160 in October 2010). I'm an OOS white male with a 3.3 LSAC GPA, but FWIW I have a very strong upward grade trend (last two years my GPA was around 3.8ish and highest honor roll each of last four semesters), some decent ECs but nothing special, one year WE. This cycle hasn't really panned out like I would have hoped. The only school I've been accepted to is my UGs T3 law school, and I've been WLed at two top 30 schools (not really expecting to get in off WLs). My UGs law school is decent if you want to remain in the state and practice, but that is not what I want to do. Moreover, I don't know if I could spend another three years in the same small town.

I'm seriously thinking about retaking the LSAT and gunning for the magical 170+ that would give me a good chance of getting into UVA ED. The week of the October 2010 test the material was really beginning to click. I made a 169 on my final PT two days before the actual test, but scored a 160 on the actual test . Also, I want to give myself the best chance I can to get admitted, so if I decide to retake the LSAT, I'm seriously considering moving to VA and establishing residency.

A few questions: Should I retake and make the move to VA (most likely Charlottesville), or just suck it up, go to a T3, (hopefully) kick ass, then try to transfer to UVA? If I do decide to retake and move to VA and establish residency, would I still need a 170+ to get accepted ED, or would being a resident give me some leeway with regard to my LSAT score? If I make the move, how difficult would it be to establish residency and find a decent apartment?

Thanks again, and good luck to all of you!

That said, didn't UVA over enroll last year and offer a whole bunch of people $$$ to defer to this year? I think so. If so, this cycle will likely be just as competitive as the last one.

They did do this, i'm not sure how many people though.

Would this mean that since apps are down, and likely to be similar next cycle, that next cylce will not be as competitiv (obviously still competitive just slightly less so)? With the deferals taking some of the spots away this cycle it pretty much evens out to last cylce, but I think this could be true of the next

UVA gets something like 40% of their admits from in state, so in that regard you might be more competitive if you lived there. Just out of curiosity, why so dead set on UVA? I mean, I love the school, but I wouldn't move there simply for the sake of residency trying to get into the law school. That seems like a bit much...

Thanks for the response, sreichel. I'm not "dead set" on UVA, but I it's definitely my #1. I'd be perfectly content attending several of the schools in the 10-20 range. I visited Charlottesville and the law school a couple of years ago and really enjoyed my visit, so I'd like to spend three years learning the law in a great town and environment.

Alright, well here's what I think, but i'm no expert. Living in VA means you compete with other people from VA for roughly 40% of the spots, rather than the rest of the country for 60% of the spots, so that's probably a plus. You definitely need a higher LSAT and need to apply ED with some addendum explaining your low gpa. Assuming all that and applying as soon as it's available, i'd say you have an ok shot. I wouldn't go to a T3 banking on transferring in, it just seems to me like transferring is a fairly difficult process. Anyway, that's what I think.

Yes, I got an email asking if I wanted to stay on the waitlist and that UVA has enough deposits to fill the class for this year.
