Nice, I'll be sending in mine this upcoming week. Have you decided on when you're going to visit the campus yet? I'm still shooting for the 15th, but school projects could get in the way of this.jaymaynard wrote:Sent in my seat deposit today

Re: U of Arkansas (Fayetteville) 2011
Hi, All- I see that a current 1L posted here as well- I am a current 2L at UARK-Fayetteville (and YES we went higher in the rankings AGAIN this year!!!). While I agree with the 1L that the campus is great, people are friendly, etc. I could not disagree more with the competitiveness comment. Last year, our first section was FIERCE! No, seriously! A difference in GPA of .08 is equal to 12 people (in a class that has come down to just over 130). It is VERY competitive.
I wholeheartedly believe there is a difference from year to year on the intensity of the students. Once you are in sections, the intensity seems to morph into more and more competitiveness. So, it will depend on the dynamic of you and your classmates. The professors will happily tell you that each class has its own vibe.
There were lots of posts on residency... yes, you will get it. Just do the things you are told to do (get license, change registration, open bank account, sign a lease, etc.) and you will be fine. I did not get residency (I own a home in Atlanta and my husband and son live there- making it appear in every way I will only be a resident for the time I am attending here) and I appealed and still got it.
Fayetteville is wonderful- I am not from here and chose it specifically. I came without even visiting beforehand. I am not a bit sorry for my choice. I intend on going to another state, and have no doubt that my AR education will be well-accepted!

If you come this week, the entire Arkansas Supreme Court is meeting at the school of law. They are hearing oral arguments in our courtroom and students are able to have group lunches with individual justices. Very exciting!!!

Not yet. I emailed the financial aid office and they said that information should go out mid May to your school email address, although I haven't received a school email address yet. Have you?ccombs02 wrote:Has anyone recieved financial aid information?

To those living in Fayetteville:
How is the law school from a tangible/overall appearance standpoint? Is either the building or technology out-dated? Is it a big, somewhat impressive building? I have been accepted and plan to visit very soon but I would love your opinions in the mean time.

I don't live in Fayetteville, but my sister is an undergrad there. The Law building is pretty new apparently. Very nice. Nice furniture, nice courtyard (square shaped bulding) . She sent me pics.gjr8891 wrote:To those living in Fayetteville:

Re: U of Arkansas (Fayetteville) 2011
Dean Miller just called me this morning asking if I was still interested in and would like to join their incoming class. It's the first thing I've heard from the school since I sent in the non-index form and they let me know they received it. I had been excited about possibly going to this school earlier, but as time went by they kind of just faded away and I forgot about them. I politely declined. But maybe they are looking at the non-index applicants now (or maybe I'm just late). Anyway I hope someone else gets my spot.

It's a very new building, construction on it was finished 2 or 3 years ago. They had the official opening about 2 years ago, at which Justice O'Connor was the key-note speaker. It's right next to the student union and the campus bus terminal which is really convenient. Everything is very nice, including a beautiful courtroom and library replete with coffee shop.pulp wrote:I don't live in Fayetteville, but my sister is an undergrad there. Another question for the Fayetteville experts:
If Ark Fay is where we decide to go, my wife will be moving to Fayetteville with me. Are there decent employment opportunities for her there? She currently manages/runs her family's small business, has a B.B.A., and will need to find something that pays pretty decently near where we live (semi-close to campus.)
Any ideas/suggestions?

She shouldn't have much of a problem. Obviously, Wal-Mart has their HQ in NWA. Then there are all of the other companies that deal with Wal-Mart that have offices there.gjr8891 wrote:That's good to hear, thanks for the responses.fish52 wrote:It's a very new building, construction on it was finished 2 or 3 years ago. The fayetteville-rogers-bentonville corridor has tons of job opportunities, especially in "business," generally. Any vendor that trades with Wal-Mart has to have an office in Northwest Arkansas. The farthest of those three cities, Bentonville, is only a 30 minute drive from campus. Northwest Arkansas has a strong economy thanks to Wal-Mart, Tyson's, JB Hunt and the U of A.gjr8891 wrote:That's good to hear, thanks for the responses.fish52 wrote:It's a very new building, construction on it was finished 2 or 3 years ago. Re: U of Arkansas (Fayetteville) 2011
I did, but I can't provide you with exact dates because pretty much the entire process was done by snail-mail.bmili wrote:anybody in here get in off non-index admissions? if so, how long did it take for admissions to get back to you? am curious about the process since I am applying next cycle.
Using their formula, my # was about 200 and being an out-of-state applicant, I needed a 205. They mailed me a letter stating I didn't qualify for index admission (which I already knew) but that I could fill out an enclosed form and mail it back stating that I still wished to be considered. I filled this one page form out and promptly sent it back.
It was probably less than a few weeks later that I received a letter in the mail informing me of my acceptance and of a small (but helpful) 1st year-only scholarship. Then, I mailed them a check in the amount of their extremely affordable seat deposit.
