Re: Held at Harvard Law 2011
I posted this on the regular Harvard discussion board, but I thought it might help for all the long term holds. I had a JR1 in December, got held in January, but just found out that I am in. So it is not impossible to get off the hold, even after a long wait.

Haha Thanks for the welcome. I'm actually less anxious now than I was while floating in the void of JR1-->???src42 wrote:Welcome to our sad little club. Best of luck.miamiman09 wrote:Had my JR1 on 2/16 and just received a "hold" e-mail. LOCI going out later today.
LOCI, or what I like to call my "love letter to JR," is done and I'll be running it to the post office this afternoon. Time to hang on to some small shred of hope!

Have any helds gotten the rejection/waitlist yet? If not, we should start a pool on who will be first. I have $100 on tipler4213.

In off the hold!! Got the call this AM. Ran around screaming like an idiot for an hour.
Here's my dilemma: NYU is offering 75k, and HLS doesn't match merit awards. I've got about two weeks until I have to let NYU know about their offer. What's the best thing to do here?

Depends on what you wanna do, preferences, etc., but I'd probably take Harvard.jrh1987 wrote:In off the hold!! Got the call this AM. Ran around screaming like an idiot for an hour.

I saw somewhere on someone's LSN that NYU extended the deadline a week for them...maybe try to push it back past ASW? If not, I'd vote for H...jrh1987 wrote:In off the hold!! Got the call this AM. Ran around screaming like an idiot for an hour.

My mom just told me "Harvard is the only school that matters in China, but you should go to where you want to go." Thanks mom.

Re: Held at Harvard Law 2011
Too true. At this point, in response to the inevitable where-will-you-be-next-years, I've just been answering with either one or two of the schools I've already been accepted to. And my older relatives will unfailingly ask, "Why aren't you going to Harvard?"
AS IF I CAN JUST GO IF I WANT can i just go, jr? pretty please?

Just got held. I'm surprised since it's so late in the cycle... what do you guys recommend?

Jesus -- it's so weird they are holding so many late in the cycle. On whom are they waiting to compare these files? I would think that, at this stage, they would either admit, WL, or reject.tothePAIN wrote:Held.

Re: Held at Harvard Law 2011
I think the process serves a purpose. For those of us who applied early, they don't want to reject us, yet they don't want to accept us yet either. They just want to see how we stack up compared to the rest of the files that come in. They could not tell us anything at all, but at that point we could call them every couple weeks to ask what our status is. So I see why they do it. I just don't see why they are holding people this late in the game.CastleRock wrote:This is stupid.

All of your points have been addressed in previous posts. The application deadline has passed and it's time to sort the like out, not prolong the process further.snichols16 wrote:I think the process serves a purpose. Yes. We agree. I was mostly stating the obvious (to you and I) for those who are just joining the party and likely haven't been suffering for as long as we have.CastleRock wrote:All of your points have been addressed in previous posts. Re: Held at Harvard Law 2011
E-penny for people's thoughts: I was held in early/mid February and sent in a LOCI within a few days, including some updates. I found out today that my senior thesis is nominated for an award, and I also have my midterm grades which were good...but I am hesitant to send in another update for just those things (especially since they require mailed updates), so I figured I'd put it out there for some perspectives. What do you think...more likely to be annoying, or helpful? Thanks
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
