What are people writing about in LOCI's? My GPA went up a bit but I sent a grade update. Not sure what else I can say."Um, I'm still interested in attending Harvard because I am a law school applicant, and all law school applicants are forever interested in attending Harvard?"

My GPA went up ever so slightly that I don't even think it'll make a difference. So instead I talked about some of the programs at Harvard and how that suits my interests. It's hard to convince HLS that you want them (because let's face it, everyone is), but a little research makes you sound more sincere.

Yep, if you do a little bit of digging around on the web site, you could probably find some programs that sound like something you'd be interested in investigating, some clinics you'd want to be a part of, things like that. Substantive things about Harvard that are appealing to you. Class size? Location?

I'm pretty the email said anytime from "now until the end of spring" or something like that....Lucky us, eh? On the other hand, someone who was recently held already got an email for JR1 so maybe they're starting to give us the read-through again.

I sent my LOCI via Fedex and it was received yesterday, well at least according to my tracking information, hopefully they'll go ahead and look at my file again soon.

+1 :(

Just sent mine in yesterday. Mentioned in my LOCI that I had a LOR on the way so hopefully they wait for that...

Would it be a bad idea to shoot them an email to let them know that updates are coming via mail? Maybe that will hold them off if they know to expect something.

Is writing a LOCI necessary and/or the norm for being held?

Not necessary and I would say not the norm for the broader applicant pool. Little bit more normal for tls.

I didn't want to write one, but then I had a conversation with myself. Self, why not write it? Don't be a lazy bum. When you get denied you will wish you wrote it.

So then I wrote it. There is an article on TLS with samples. Just search LOCI.

176/3.9 and you are held at Harvard? Thats like getting 1 point short of an A+. That must be pretty agonizing. Hats off to you and I hope you get into many other great schools.

Thank you friend. I will be sending my LOCI this weekend, so hopefully the folks in Cambridge bless me with their good graces.

Judging by last year, messages should be coming out already.
