Does anyone else feel like this is just plain disrespectful on the part of BYU?

Either they have all these decisions made and won't send them out...or they have a bunch of applications piled up and refuse to review them.

I'm getting really tired of the waiting game.

If you check threads for other schools you will see that applicants to Stanford and to a lesser extent CLS and Chicago have the same complaint. Its is the nature of the process unless you are an autoadmit which obviously most aren't

To be fair, those schools have significantly more applicants than byu.

Stanford gets 4,000 applications each year.

At best BYU is terribly slow. At worst they are malicious in their stalling tactics. Why stick up for 'em?

A few pages back someone said that they heard they had gone through all of the applications and put them into different categories and now are going back through those that weren't in the first round of admits and reviewing those for admission. Maybe it just takes more time going through a second time?

I still haven't heard from three schools that I applied to in November. It really does get frustrating. Especially when seat deposits are coming up! Though, that should open up more spots for those waiting!

Now this would be funny We can do a BYU/Utah swap and you can find out where mine went up there. Check to see if it is being used as a dart board, etc....haha

I'm aiming to stay for the Civ Pro class, but not sure how the rest of my work day will pan out. I have RSVP'd to everything through lunch, but don't know about the last class yet. I sat in on one class already and liked it a lot.

I attended a Criminal Law class. I really liked it and liked the professor a lot.

Does anyone know if BYU always calls the accepted applicants? Has anyone ever been accepted via mail?

I could be wrong, but I think everyone has some type of interview usually set up by email. Then whether its an interview over the phone or in person- thats usually when the good news comes.

Jdemmintt- thanks for being the one to post that! I didn't even think of doing that. Pretty amazing how many people go out of state. I'd really like to get the average starting salary figures for the individuals who stay in Utah.

That information can be found on the back of the double-sided factsheet for the current year. Most of the info from that US News post is there actually. BYU seems to be very transparent with their employment figures.

Don't have it with me, but somewhere between $80-90,000 seems about right. (Don't quote me on it!)

I emailed Gaelyn yesterday to try to get an ETA on my decision so I don't fork out a seat on April 1st to my second school of choice. This was her reply:

"The committee has reviewed your application. They really liked you, but couldn't make a decision just yet. We will be reviewing that hold list in the next couple of weeks hoping to make some decisions. I can't promise getting a decision out by April 1, but we will have everything out by April 15."

I'm laying off the obsession for a while.

I have two weeks. Scholarship reciepients owe their deposit on April 1st.
