Re: BYU 2011
The Princeton Review (at least in part) rates the "competitiveness" of a school by surveying students and asking them not only how many hours a day they spend studying, but also how many hours a day they think their peers spend per day studying. Considering most people probably live closer to campus and aren't concerned as much with the bar review scene, I think it's easy to see why BYU ranks higher in "competitiveness." Law school in general is competitive; it's just the nature of the game.

Zonto...I think that makes a lot of sense. Speaking of rankings, I'm interested in what will change in the 2012 rankings coming out next week!
Who here is coming to the accepted students day? I'm not on facebook where more info may be, so if any other info has been posted about the event, feel free to pass it along
Hope more good news comes our for people this week!

I received the call from Dean Hernandez on Friday, but I still haven't received the official email. For those of you who have already received the email, how long did it take after your phone interview?

Not sure what email you're looking for. It took like a month after my interview to get my packet and to get an email titled "View BYU Admission Decision/Enrollment." I've gotten other emails though, like about the facebook group, ASD, financial aid etc...azbio wrote:I received the call from Dean Hernandez on Friday, but I still haven't received the official email. I looked back through my emails. My interview was 4 Feb and I got an email the same day congratulating me and inviting me to the facebook group.

Re: BYU 2011
I'll be coming to the Admitted Students Day this month. I am slightly confused as to why it's on a Monday, but I guess that works. I would have to take work off whatever day it was.
If it's anything like the other ASDs I have seen agendas for I'm sure it will involve PowerPoint presentations, perhaps tear-invoking slideshows set to inspiring orchestral music, tours of the building, a mock lecture of some sort, lots of sideways glances from annoyed students in the library, finger foods, and general anxiety as slightly awkward people are already starting to size up their "competition" instead of just enjoying the day and relaxing.
We in this thread should definitely meet up though; perhaps a sticker name tag with our TLS usernames would suffice? Or we could all wear hideous sweaters from the local DI so that we can easily locate each other?

Has BYU heard of human nature? Having sex is part of it.

Yeah they are on the same day. How convenient right? They're already fostering the rivalry by making us choose which ASD to attend!jdemmitt wrote:Is it the 28th? That is Utah's as well. Di sweater is the way to go.

Any acceptances without the interviews? Do I need to be checking my email every 5 minutes, or should I be staring at my phone? Which pot should I watch to make it boil?

I think it depends where you live. I'm in Utah so I think they assumed I could come in for an interview and they emailed me about it.Adamofthewest wrote:Any acceptances without the interviews? If you check threads for other schools you will see that applicants to Stanford and to a lesser extent CLS and Chicago have the same complaint. Its is the nature of the process unless you are an autoadmit which obviously most aren'tteleste wrote:Does anyone else feel like this is just plain disrespectful on the part of BYU?
Either they have all these decisions made and won't send them out...or they have a bunch of applications piled up and refuse to review them.
I'm getting really tired of the waiting game.
What a sick joke.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
