The VLS website shows where the dual degrees will take you but it seems it isn't a tremendous stepping stone to a better career:

If you have the money and the dedication it doesn't seem like a bad option. The VLS admissions staff said it is better to complete a semester or two at VLS before applying to the other school.

when did you go into "1st review"? And were you in final review and then received your decision? I am very tired of seeing the 1st review thing. I don't want to be that guy ... but come on vermont, come on.

I'm about to graduate VLS. You learn to adapt to small town life/snow/law school etc. There are plenty of carpools to the airport, charter buses etc. It's a great school with an excellent sense of community. Good luck to everyone applying! And for those already admitted, come up for visiting students day. There might be a little snow on the ground....

(P.S. And just to set the tone: I'm currently bored at home commenting on this forum because we're getting a foot of snow today and school is closed!)

hey! great to hear that good news about the community! I am excited but I definitely need a lot of money to consider moving that far from home. the tuition is just outrageous..

I think my "final review" was on 2/14. my first review was 1/10 or so. submitted on 1/17.

I got rejected by Vermont. Odd considering I was accepted to better schools and waitlisted at Penn State which is #60. I think it's probably due to the second essay you have to write on personal or moral decisions... Mine was about being a vegan, and I imagine they immediately thought I was an unstable anarchist.

Have you ever been to Vermont? I'm sure that wasn't the reason. There are tons of vegans here and that's a perfectly legitimate topic for an essay about moral decisions. There was another reason. You should call and ask.

I have been to Vermont. That's exactly why I applied. I'd love to set a small town law operation in the VT countryside, but I was just more surprised that I got straight rejected when I got acceptance and $60,000 from Quinnipiac. Not sure the reasoning, but such is life. Not a big deal. I've got a bunch of other schools I'm waiting to hear from and VLS was near the bottom for me. Just surprised.

Well that's good that it's not a big deal for you. Where are you from out of curiosity?

Richmond, VA. Though a lot of my family lives up north and I've spent a lot time around the NE.

It looks as though Vermont is raising the standard for gpa, as I'm seeing rejections and waitlisting for under a 3.0. I would suspect the US News ranking widened their pool this year.
