Imho, there's no harm in trying. The worst Penn can say is no. They won't take away your current scholarship offer for having the presumption to ask. I assume NU/Duke gave you more than Penn?
I want to ask for more $$ from UVA, but Cornell gave me the same amount and Georgetown has given me less. I don't have any acceptances from higher-ranked schools to use for leverage at this point, so UVA is actually the best offer both money- and rank-wise that I have. I don't know what else to say except please???
Yeah I figured it couldn't hurt to try and bring down the amount I'll be taking out in loans.
I talked to the Financial Aid guy from Penn because they gave me $0 merit (decent amount of financial-need based though) which seems baffling in comparison to the amounts I received from NU and Duke.
