I am leaning Berkeley because I want to have both coasts. Apparently we really are on polar opposites.
Cal is sort of in its own crazy, beautiful world. Congrats on having the choices!

I didn't get my applications out until 12/7 but I got acceptance from Wake Forest so far. The majority of the schools I've applied to haven't even started reviewing my app yet, which makes me wish I applied a lot sooner.

First, I feel like a freak because I know most of the lsn names on that spreadsheet from checking out people's profiles... it's sort of like when you run into someone you know primarily through facebook. Anyways, I agree that the most discouraging part of membership in the 170 club is that we'll all be getting really late decisions from the top schools. If only I hadn't sucked on that one logic game...

I heard back from both Berkeley and Penn in their respective first batches. I think my GPA helps that cause. Being a 170 splitter is tough in top schools since the index will be way down, but ultimately they will have to protect the medians. It's still better than being a reverse splitter in general. I am extremely happy with my 170 this Christmas now with those top choices in hand. You guys will be fine soon!

Just sent out to Emory. Extremely late app.. don't know why I basically just heard about the school. I may be destined for TTT.

Atleast there is Alabama to fall back on.

I think LSN will put your mind at ease about Emory: http://emory.lawschoolnumbers.com/stats/0910/
Looks like GPA becomes almost negligible factor above 167

I also see that they don't issue any decisions until mid-Feb which helps I suppose. I'm looking for $$$ though so it's definitely going to be interesting to see how this turns out. I want to stay in the South and I love Atlanta so this would be great if I could get in with little to pay.

Some people w/170s in this thread wish for 171s - does that 1 point make that much of a difference?

I think it can make a big difference if it pushes you to at/over a schools median/75th.

170/3.58 reporting with acceptances at Fordham and Georgetown and a deferral ED at NYU.

I have a 171 and I feel like from 166 up to 173 a point is huuuuuggggeeee - I changed an answer on LG last second to the wrong answer, I had the right one I don't know why I double guessed myself. It is one of my worst memories. I look at my answer sheet from time to time and get so upset. My GPA sucks btw so it hurts even more.

It's the difference between the 97th and 98th percentile. When you know that all you had to do was get one more question right to make that jump it's really annoying.

luckily i was -12 in oct 2010, so 1 more right and i still would've been at 170. makes me sleep a little better.

I also recognizes the names of a couple people with similar stats to mine, kind of creeped myself out.

On an unrelated note Harvard started reviewing my app on the 20th and, assuming they don't get off break until January I'll always be able to say it took Harvard 2 weeks to decide to reject me.

Yeah I recognize a few names. My LSN and TLS usernames are different for some reason. dc496 on LSN.

Club 170 needs to meet together at an ASW or open house.. preferably at one where they pay our bills to visit.

One bad thing about being in Club 170, as mentioned, is how late one will hear back from the HYSCCN (some of us will probably make it to SCCN at least, but I doubt early in the game).

Here is where I'm at so far:

Berkeley - In
Penn - W/L
Michigan - In
Duke - In
Northwestern - In
Cornell - In
Vandy - In

Good luck to everyone!

I am all for this. I will put my TLS screen name on my name tag.

Can I join this club? I'm 171 but I feel like it's basically the same thing.

If you are willing to write an LSAT addendum asking schools to view you as a 170...
