170s are in a much better position than when this thread was originally created. I feel like 169s are the new 170s. agree/disagree??

Checking in.
Definitely agree with this. It's weird to visit some of the older posts (08/09/10) on this board and seeing what people were up against as every unemployed humanities major in the country tried to hide out in law school until the economic downturn blew over. Shit was cutthroat.proteinshake wrote:170s are in a much better position than when this thread was originally created. I feel like 169s are the new 170s. agree/disagree??

I think so. Not only do 169s feel unpredictable, they just don't look good. The distance between 169 and 170 feels huge.proteinshake wrote:170s are in a much better position than when this thread was originally created. I feel like 169s are the new 170s. agree/disagree??

I think the predictability will depend on GPA. I think you'll be fine from NYU down + Chicago.theothercat wrote:I think so. Not only do 169s feel unpredictable, they just don't look good. I have a 170 and above 75% GPA, excellent 2 year work experience with a top bank. ED Columbia, what you'll think of my chances?proteinshake wrote:I think the predictability will depend on GPA. good chance but a bad decision. Columbia isn't worth sticker price.NorthDragon wrote:I have a 170 and above 75% GPA, excellent 2 year work experience with a top bank. True, But I really need to get into a school in NYC, cause I might want to do part time job at banks / PE funds so NYC location is prime for meproteinshake wrote:yeah but they are good for a near fulle ride at the non-T6 schools.NorthDragon wrote:Thanks. Yeah, I've got a high GPA and solid work experience and got my apps in early, so I'm not existentially worried. The main unknown that worries me is $$$. That said, I'm expecting an interesting cycle.proteinshake wrote:I think the predictability will depend on GPA. I think you'll be fine from NYU down + Chicago.theothercat wrote:I think so. Checking in! I got so intimidated by the people in that NYU 2020 applicant thread they've all got 173+ and submitted their app super early. Is there any chance that our LSAT score could leverage some scholly from NYU?

Lol this thread is amazing. I retook a 170 (after much deliberation) and scored lower fml.

It'll be easier for you to get into NYU than those two.Purple Post It Note wrote:Checking in - Gpa a bit under 25th for every single t-14 school...

Re: Club 170
Glad to have found this thread!! I have been waging an internal battle for the past 3 months about whether or not I should retake...I took the June test (which is when I got the 170), but then got married the same day as the September test, so that wasn't an option. And after planning a wedding for months, I didn't exactly have the time or motivation to study to retake the test in Dec. So 170 is what I'm sticking with!
Luckily, my GPA is pretty great (3.9). I also graduated summa cum laude (Unversity of MN), but I'm not sure if that matters to law schools. Anyone have any idea if latin honors carry any weight?
