If your status changes to DLS, does that mean that you're getting rejected? Or does the school call accepted students after the DLS status change but before they get their acceptance letter?

So far, if your status changes to DLS before you receive an acceptance phone call or email (they send the email if you miss the phone call I believe), then you were rejected.

Thanks to everyone for such a warm welcome into thread. I've lurked here for some time but didn't want to jinx it by posting.

App received 12/22 but not reviewed till 2/4 due to late Dean Cert.

I just got out of an ASW planning meeting and we had a question on what panel would most beneficial to 0L's. So I had this novel idea of coming to TLS to ask potential ASW attendees what they'd like to see rather than just speculate. If you had to choose between these 3 panels, what would be most influential in helping you decide whether not to attend SLS?:

-Office of Career Services Panel
-Financial Aid Panel
-Student Projects Panel (e.g. ALEP, Bhutan Project, Documentary Project, etc.)

-Office of Career Services Panel - Most important (to me)-I'd love to hear from OCS about what they provide, etc., and get to know some of the staff. I'd be a bit nervous making a decision about law school without having a good exposure to the career office
-Financial Aid Panel - Potentially beneficial-SLS seems to be very straightforward with the need-based policy (at least from the information I have read from the admitted student site), so I guess it is hard for me to see what exactly would be covered besides the fafsa/needaccess/etc. basics (<-or maybe this is why there should be a panel?)
-Student Projects Panel (e.g. ALEP, Bhutan Project, Documentary Project, etc.)- Most interesting -it looks like SLS students do some really cool things, so obviously this would be more interesting and unique to Stanford than the other panels

If I had to choose, I would want to attend the OCS Panel the most, followed closely by the Student Projects Panel... but to answer your question, I think the student projects panel has the potential to be the most influential in students' decision simply because its subject and content will probably be more interesting/exciting to prospective students...

Yeah, I kinda agree with Stig. OCS panel would be most important to me, but the Student Projects one could be really interesting.

Student Projects--I think this option would by far present the most new (and interesting!) information.

finally sat down and read the book that came in the binder
they're succeeding in making me question whether i would definitely go to H if I don't get Y

Everyone I know "But it's Harvard!"

This isn't whining since it's obviously a position lots of people wouldlove to have. it's just going to be really difficult...

I am also stuck with the (very fun) but difficult problem of deciding between the two. Interested in politics/govt in DC, which makes Harvard seem like the right choice--no interest at all in practicing on the West Coast. But I really, really like the idea of smaller class sizes. Overall, probably leaning Stanford right now, but will have to visit both.

I Echo your sentiments.

Plus, the idea of being able to bike around all year round in Palo Alto is very appealing. However, I'm a NE native and Boston sports fan (please don't hate me, I'm not obnoxious, I swear).

Luckily there's really no "wrong" decision. I'll look forward to meeting y'all at their ASWs.

Has anyone applied for financial aid? I'm trying to figure out where to find the "Stanford Law School Independence Test." It says in the initial packet that it will be provided in a future mailing, but I have not yet received it. I want to get my materials in as soon as possible:)

I think is supposed to be posted on the admitted student website, under "apply for financial aid" but it isn't up yet!

Haha. I almost kicked our office receptionist in the face when I got the call. I also had to clarify a few times exactly who was calling and I made a joke about the weather. Thank God they didn't change their mind...

New to the forum (as of today) and a bit upset that I spent the past month annoying my friends with SLS talk when I could have talked to people who would be less annoyed. :D
