Next January they are moving the school to Long Island City. While there is no parking available at the new location, it will be much more accessible from any of the five buroughs.

is this confirmed?

i find many things about cuny appealing but the location in flushing is brutal -- a 1+ hour commute from my apt in brooklyn. i've seen the discussion about the move to LIC, along with a new part-time program, but haven't seen any hard evidence of a date; their admissions office told me nothing was confirmed at this time. i'd be very tempted by cuny part time in LIC as it would be about a 20 minute walk for me!

From everything I've heard, there's an 80-85% chance that CUNY will be in LIC by Spring 2012. It's more likely than not the move will go forward but there's still a chance it could be set back again.

It's also going to be a while before they're in a position to offer a part-time program. The person I spoke to at the LSAC event said that it'll be three to five years before PT is fully up and running.

No problem - I sympathize on the commute issue too. I live in Astoria (as one might surmise from the name) and I'm not looking forward to the N>7>Q44 schlep.

My status checker removed the message on the top about taking time to review the application and the date changed again to 1/28/2011. Has this happened to anyone else?

I received the acceptance packet today via mail. (2/3/2011).

My status checker noted that decision was released on 1/31/2011.

In addition, there was a handwritten note and a handwritten signature on the page.

I received the acceptance packet Friday 2/11 in Manhattan. No information about $ in there. 2.8 gpa/165 lsat. Non-trad student in my 30s.
My status checker says I'm still in review. Maybe I should call to give them the good news?
I also liked the hand-signed letter, with Congratulations! also written in pen. Nice touch.

You should receive something soon, as it took me about month or so from the review date.

Also, my status changed three times with file in review before a decision was rendered.

I submitted my application mid-November. It went in review 12/22 and I was admitted on 1/10 according to status checker, but I had an acceptance package awaiting me when I returned from vacation on 1/09. I am a 29 year old non traditional student. 3.4/ 157, lots of work experience and years of volunteer work.

I haven't decided if I will attend or not, the tuition and lack of debt I will have coming out was my main motivation in applying, but I do worry about job prospects coming out and the commute is going to be difficult. So far I have been very impressed with how responsive everyone I talk to at CUNY is, everyone has responded to emails within 24 hours. I was also contacted by a staff member who made himself available to answer any questions I have and he has been great in doing so. Providing very honest, realistic answers about employment, etc.

He also confirmed the move to LIC is scheduled to happen in December 2011, but he mentioned that given how the state was involved in the move (and all the accompanying delays that brings) he guessed the move was more likely to occur in Summber 2012.

I liked Cuny Law, but because they don't give any scholarship 12k is a lot to pay for tier 4 if your getting full rides at similar schools. With a full ride Cuny would have probably been a top choice but unfortunately I can't see paying 12k for tier four even if it is in NYC. Now if you have no Scholarships to any schools, or you really really want a NYC Law School for cheap then Cuny is probably the best deal in the history of the world for you.

Is CUNY a no brainer if you want to practice public interest law?

A 2L I know said that he had heard that the move was pushed back to June 2012.

There's no way it should take since November to get back to you. The approval process is generally no more than a month - why not give them a call?

Also...CUNY extended their application deadline to April 15...very interesting, they must have quite a few seats still open...

I just submitted my application a few days ago...fingers crossed for CUNY :) (154 LSAT, 2.99 GPA (was 3.05 pre-LSAC), 10+ years work experience, and community service work).

150 lsat, 2.8 gpa (lsac 2.3 gpa  ) 3.5 masters gpa. black male. applied in dec because i was waiting for the dec lsat score. file said incomplete until 2/24 which it changed to in review because i emailed them. any suggestions would help. wanna stay in NY becasue fiance is doing residency and I plan on doing public interest work so CUNY with its low cost is number 1. Any suggestions would help.

Yeah, if I remember correctly, didn't it work out to like $700 a mo. for rent, which I would think would be hard to find even in Queens. And they expected that you would have roommates? That's weird because they tend to attract older students compared to some other schools, and I don't think most people over 25 are into having roomies, even in New York. I may be going back to school, but at age 37, I do NOT share bathrooms, thanks.
All kind of a moot point for me though, because I withdrew. I was excited about CUNY until I went to visit. Yikes.

I applied in October and didn't go under review until 1/24. I'm still waiting...called them and they said this is "normal"... SMH
