Hi Everyone. I just signed on to the forum. I have been reading all the postings and wanted to share. CUNY is my first choice and I just got admitted after a long wait. Congratulations to those who have already been admitted. And to those who are still waiting for a decision, stay positive. If you have not gotten any response yet, the chances are that you are being seriously considered. Take my situation as an example.

I applied on 1/10/11, went complete on 1/18/11, in review from 3/25/11. Status checker change to 5/9/11 and I remained under review. On 5/10/11 status checker informed that I have been admitted. 150 lsat, 3.72 gpa. so excited!

Stay positive, and I look forward to see you guys in falls 11

Hey everyone,

I've been creeping this thread since February, CUNY is the only school I applied to, app was complete early March and has been "in review" since 03/17/11. I'm 158/3.2 so numbers wise I feel good but the waiting is killing me. I also feel that since they know I didn't apply anywhere else that they can tell me June 15th and know I'll still enroll.

Just want to thank everybody who posted in this thread, best source of info I've found.

Huge congratulations! Your story is very encouraging! I also went into review on 3/25, but I applied on 3/12...

rad - hang in there, I'm right there with you...

edit: I've come to realize that grades/LSAT scores seem to count considerably less than they let on at first - the personal statement really seems to make the difference (at least with CUNY)...

Thanks LSATtom. I am with the opinion that a strong PS with emphasis on public interest coupled with sound work experience increases your prospect for admission as long as your lsat/gpa is reasonable.

Applied 3/15. Status date is 3/24, "ready for review". I have 150 LSAT and 3.41 GPA. Why can't they just tell me!!!!!

Sorry eknowles...

It's frustrating as hell but they'll make a decision by June...the CUNY admissions person I talked to yesterday said "sometime in June"...I thought that it would be by June 15, but now I'm not so sure.

Sounds like they have not yet reviewed your application - mine is currently "in review", so I imagine once they're done with that batch, they'll move on to yours...And judging by how they're reviewing applications, they're only up to January/February's batch. But I'm just speculating.

This is worse than waiting for my LSAT score :-/

Congrats to those of you who have been accepted!! great news (:
It seems like a lot of us are still "in review". That has been my status since 3/25! I'm curious for those of us still waiting to hear, are you still placing seat deposits at other schools? I paid my first seat deposit at Pace a few weeks ago and there is another deposit fee deadline coming up. I'm wondering if other people are in the same situation/how you are handling it.
Thanks!

The brutal beating of Bryan Stow in Dodger Stadium is being investigated by 16 detectives and officers working around the clock to examine a growing pile of information from witnesses and others, the lead investigator said Tuesday.

Hi, homies... I'm new here.

I just got accepted to CUNY on May 20, 2011, after submitting my application on March 27, 2011...

GPA: 3.79
LSAT: 152

Given those paltry numbers and the relative "quickness" of their response, I'm almost convinced it was my personal statement what persuaded them. Oh, and I'm a non-traditional student at 30 and with a background in state government.

Still haven't decided... I'm visiting the school this Friday.

Godspeed to everyone!

chileno - a huge congratulations - you are indeed the envy of many potential law students. CUNY is a tough school to beat in NYC...the price and quality combo make it one of the most respected law schools in the area. If you can deal with its typical CUNY appearance, you'll do fine I'm sure...

I went into review on March 25 - I have a background in Federal government and am 34, so I am very hopeful. (154 lsat/2.99 GPA)
I'm wondering if other people are in the same situation/how you are handling it.
hmm...gently rocking back in forth in the fetal position? ;)

I'm really nervous and wish I had a decision prior to June 15th. I was one of those people who applied in that "extended deadline" period. I am in LOVE with their international women's human rights clinic since that is exactly what I want to study. I'm hoping that my PS on public interest and that specific clinic helped me bc my gpa is good but LSAT not so much :-/

I hope that I get in. I would be a dream. Even thou i got into West Virginia, I really want CUNY. Price, location, and Focus are what I am looking for in a law school. This wait is really getting to me.

Hang in there man...we've made it this far, and the longer we last into June I think the better chances we have of being accepted.

I'm kind of relieved to see that there are others in the same boat. CUNY really needs to get their act together. I applied in February and according to the status checker, went "In Review" as of 5/24. I'm going out of my mind waiting since CUNY is my first choice.

I'll have to make a seat deposit today for WNEC... just to have something in place... Stats: 165 LSAT and GPA: 3.1. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of you! Good luck!

Has anyone here been placed on their wait list? I heard that they usually have a very long wait list. I know a lot of people apply there as a safety school so it seems like there would be some truth in it. I'm so sick of waiting!

I know CUNY overall uses wait lists...but as far as CUNY school of law specifically, I think it's one of three results...accepted, rejected, or the pipeline to justice program. I would like to read more about the waitlist you refer to, if I remember correctly from the admission seminar, there is no such animal. But perhaps you should give admissions a call and verify...

New to this, but i've been checking it out for a while. I sent my application mid-Feb., and still waiting....I've heard from the rest of my schools: 1 acceptance, 2 waitlist.
Waiting on CUNY bc it's my #1 CHOICE! Its come down to June! Let's get these decisions out there.

So I called this morning to verify and she said that they do use waitlists. And I think it def makes sense for a school in their low ranking position to do. People apply there as a safety because its cheap and known as a good NY school. So the people who have amazing LSAT scores and GPA's that they admit will probably go to a better ranking school unless they are really committed to Public Interest law and want to CUNY because of its reputable PI programming and clinics.

Another thing..this pipeline to justice program is really interesting. Its not like most of the other schools who have this type of conditional acceptance program. Because your essentially paying for a LSAT course and if you do better on the LSAT you get offered acceptance… an entire academic year later. While other schools have you take actual law school classes during the summer and if you get above a 2.5 or something you get admitted for that fall AND those classes you took count towards the credit requirements. My question is..for a school whose median is 154 and they are accepting people who have 150..how low would your LSAT score have to be to be admitted into this pipeline for justice program?
