So the people who have amazing LSAT scores and GPA's that they admit will probably go to a better ranking school unless they are really committed to Public Interest law
You hit the nail on the head as to why the wait is so long. They no doubt have hundreds of accepted applicants that are in a continuous cycle of rejecting their offer, which leaves them with additional slots to offer to someone else. So long as that process continues (determined by the total number of applicants they have to review), the longer the wait for us. Although its long and is capable of driving the sanity out of an individual, it's also very fair and works to the advantage of those who really want to go (like me!!!).
how low would your LSAT score have to be to be admitted into this pipeline for justice program?
Good question - it's probably a combination of a poor LSAT score and poor GPA, but the specifics I don't know. It's all very subjective as you've probably realized by now - if the individual has a great public service record but a less-than-median LSAT and GPA, they would probably be candidates for the program.

In case you guys did not know, CUNY gives out merit scholarships....I assumed that they didn't because of the low cost of tuition but I was wrong!

I sent an email asking when a decision would be made and I went into review an hour later! Hopefully will hear some good news soon. BTW I applied 4/1.

Current Status: Your application is in review
Current Status Date: 3/17/2011
This is just getting annoying now. It's the middle of June.

When I last spoke with them, they said all decisions would be made by June 15th. I highly doubt that though.

How long ago did you ask? I talked to them today, and they are still saying they should be done this month.

Thank you everyone...I can hardly believe it but I'm relieved that the wait is over. Now the real work begins.

Hang in there for those still waiting - I really think if you've lasted this long the chances are only getting better for you.

See you guys this fall (unless they invite me to the summer course which I'll definitely gobble up - seems like a good primer.)

154 lsat, 2.99 LSAC adjusted GPA (was a 3.05...just sayin' ;-) ).

However, I've been out of school nearly 12 years. I made sure to include all the public interest work and other oddities I've experienced in my personal statement, which I imagine made the difference since my scores aren't exceptional.

Speaking of the summer program, has anyone heard back, or does anyone know when we'll hear?

Congratulations LSATtom. You have been a very patient applicant. I'm sure the outcome made-up for the long wait. See you in the fall.

Regarding the Summer Law Institute (SLI), I was told that the Summer Law Institute will run from Monday July 25 through Thursday August 4. Classes are held four days a week, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. I also recieved stated that a decision regarding the SLI will be made by the end of June. If you have not applied, and you are still intrested, you should contact Susan Chang. She is the one in charge.

Good Luck!

Ok cool, thanks. I applied and haven't heard back, just wondering when I'll hear.

I haven't seen anything about an open house. I'm very interested in going. Do you mind sharing the info? I've already paid seat deposit so I'm attending but it would still be good to meet a few people. Thanks!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
