Well I don't think it sounds too demanding, though it may not effect whether they can realistically move you up the scholarship waitlist. You are being honest, just as you will want her to provide an honest assesment of your chances of receiving aid.

Let us know what she says! (Is this an email or snail mail letter?)

Affect it positively or negatively? I mean would they prioritize me more knowing that it might determine if I come, or would they write me off as not coming because they don't have much to give me?

And it is email

I don't think they would write you off, but she will be honest with you about the possibility of receiving money this late in the game. Keep in mind that there are many applicants for whom money will make or break their decision to enroll. It certainly doesn't hurt to be up front about your intentions, but I don't know that they can drop everything to cater to one applicant. In other words, I wouldn't expect an on-the-spot offer from her, but she should at least be able to indicate whether you can realistically expect to hear from the scholarship committee in the near future, or not. In my mind, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Yeah. It kind of seems too wordy reading it over again. I chopped it in half and sent it....we'll see what happens.

There was a really great thread about negotiating merit aid on TLS somewhere, I think it was in the financial aid or admissions forum. Anyways, it really helped me draft my letter to DU, though like everyone else I got the same reply.

I think you have a great shot if that is where you really want to go. They want to move up to a 160 LSAT median for next year I'm sure, and your 3.5 might end up above their GPA figures. I think you will get in, might have to wait a bit though.

Two things:

In as of 3/10ish (assuming that "Day Fall 2011" means "admitted" in DU-speak), and I guess they send out scholly notifications as emails?

How long did they give you to decide if you were going to take it or not?

Looks like it's just the basic seat deposit deadline of 4/28. Basically, if I decide to enroll it's mine. Pinch me.

Yep Day Fall means admitted to the day/full-time program starting this fall and yes they send out scholly notifications via email.

Wow man, congratulations, that's kickass! I don't know what your other options are, but I think DU for free sounds like a hell of a deal to me! Don't tell Iowa, but I'd turn down their full ride for a full ride at DU... Denver rocks, Colorado rocks, and, apparently, YOU ROCK.

Thank you so much for all the love, everyone! And GOOD LUCK to everyone waiting! I'm so excited! I'm a Denver native who's been gone for almost eight years, so the chance to return home with such an honor is incredibly wonderful. I hope some of you will also be there with me!

I have the exact same stats as you, 3.46 160 my app was complete 3/08 they accepted me just a week later 3/15.

So go for it you have a pretty good chance, granted it is a bit later now, so make sure your personal statement is really solid. Don't expect any $$ although there is a small chance.

Worst comes to worst you'll get waitlisted apply in September next year and get scholly $.

It is a separate application for a full ride for those interested in public interest work.

Just got my Chancellor rejection letter :( Too bad I love Colorado but that makes DU just a little too expensive.
