Columbia ED Waiting Thread
At this point this post is meant to archive all ED information for future ED applicants. I'm going to try to include as much information as possible!
HISTORICAL INITIAL RELEASE DATES
2010 - November 30th, Monday
2009 - December 1st, Tuesday
2008 - November 26th, Thursday (viewtopic.php?f=20&t=48833)
2007 - November 28th, Wednesday
2006 - December 4th, Monday
2005 - December 12th, Monday
2004 - December 8th, Wednesday
RELEASE DATES THIS YEAR
So far decisions have been released on:
- November 30th, 2010 (Monday)
- December 6th, 2010 (Monday) [Only 1 or 2]
- December 7th, 2010 (Tuesday) [~3]
- December 13th, 2010 (Monday) [Only 1 - 3:45PM]
- December 14th, 2010 (Tuesday) [Only 1 - 3:45PM]
HOWEVER, these decisions have all been dated November 30th and December 6th.
Almost all decisions have come out between 3:30PM and 4:30PM besides a few released in the morning. All decisions up to this point (December 13th) have been acceptances.
STATS FOR THIS YEAR'S EDers
- PLEASE PM ME YOUR STATS AND STATUS; ALL NUMBER WILL BE ANONYMOUS UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED-
GRADE REQUESTS
Many, MANY people have received grade requests. I'd have to guess in the area of 15 people have reported receiving them. According to last year's data receiving a grade request is a good sign and is very often followed up with an acceptance. However, grade requests DO give you the option of backing out of your ED contract.

Good luck! Last year they emailed the ED acceptances. Why the switch?

Not sure, not sure that I'm even right. Someone mentioned that their confirmation email said that decisions would only be mailed this year. Someone able to confirm this? I haven't received my completion email yet D:swc65 wrote:Good luck! Last year they emailed the ED acceptances. Why the switch?

Please note that decisions will not be available online; rather, all applicants will receive their decisions by mail.JoeShmoe11 wrote:Not sure, not sure that I'm even right. Ahh that'd be awesome. Supposed to go on vacation the 3rd which would've meant I'd have to wait a week before hearing back!swc65 wrote:2011Cycle wrote:Please note that decisions will not be available online; rather, all applicants will receive their decisions by mail.JoeShmoe11 wrote:Not sure, not sure that I'm even right. You'll know before you open it. Acceptances last year came in large, "vomit-colored envelopes," or VCE for short, and WL/holds/rejects came in slim normal sized envelopes.wiseguy33 wrote:Anyone know how they'll contact WL/rejects? Re: Columbia ED Waiting Thread
I can safely say this is the only situation in my life where I would prefer to receive something in the mail resembling vomit instead of something normal.re-applicant wrote:You'll know before you open it. Re: Columbia ED Waiting Thread
You know, I was looking at the decision dates and last year they started rolling in the 1st, but the year before they apparently didn't start coming in until the 5th. I guess what I'm saying is, last year they started coming out on the first, but that doesn't mean that's necessarily typical.
We might all have to strap in for a long wait through December...

Better a long wait, than a waitlist, amiright? Or (most likely) an extremely long wait and a waitlist. Have a feeling it's going to be a long December in Splittersville.vertex wrote:You know, I was looking at the decision dates and last year they started rolling in the 1st, but the year before they apparently didn't start coming in until the 5th. Not to freak anyone out, but apparently ED acceptances have come out as early as November 26!

According to LSN we could begin to hear back anytime this week or next week. Dates for the first word on applications have come in as follows (according to LSN):
2009 - December 1st, Tuesday
2008 - November 26th, Thursday (http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 20&t=48833)
2007 - November 28th, Wednesday
2006 - December 4th, Monday
2005 - December 12th, Monday
2004 - December 8th, Wednesday
2003 only has one "decision received date" which seems like too few to be reliable.
These dates seem to show NO bias in terms of day of the week and a surprisingly wide range of dates (11/27 - 12/12 is 16 days!). If anyone can dig up the old topics (besides 2009/2008) so that we know these dates are accurate then we could get an even better idea as to when to expect an answer.
Seems likely that we could hear back tomorrow, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursdays, Friday, or even the week after! So stressed!!

Re: Columbia ED Waiting Thread
I think I remember looking through last year's thread and hearing that ED acceptances first came out on the 5th of December the year before them (so the 2008-2009 cycle). I remember them being slightly surprised when the acceptances started popping up on the 1st.JoeShmoe11 wrote:D: Uhhh three days seems like so much but seven days?! Edit: Oops, nevermind. Should've checked that link beforehand. Apparently they did start popping up on... Thanksgiving??

Figured we could bring this thread back, and bring our ED neuroses here, since we're in the spotlight right now.

Most of the action on the main thread is re: EDs.
Or maybe I'm just selectively reading.

Re: Columbia ED Waiting Thread
No you're right, I was just hoping to move the action over here because RD people keep interjecting that they went complete on a certain day and I thought it was getting a little messy a few pages back.wiseguy33 wrote:Most of the action on the main thread is re: EDs.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
