for those who aren't certain they're attending... are you still going ahead and setting up your HLS "Me" account now?

Just told my parents via a gift wrapped "Harvard Mom" t-shirt and "Harvard Dad" cap. Best Christmas moment ever.

My parents would have soiled themselves.

The Harvard t-shirt gifts worked out nicely. The reaction went from confusion, to slow realization, to excitement. It was worth waiting.

This. My parents gave me a look like well this is a bit presumptuous. Then I told them I got in, and well, I won't forget my mom's scream anytime soon :)

You guys are lucky. My family doesnt understand that there is a difference in law schools. When I told them my Mom asked if they were giving me a full scholly like Texas. After I told her they dont give full schollys she couldnt understand why I wouldnt go to Texas. When I told my gparents, my gdad asked me why I would want to go so far away when the local university has a (tier 4) law school. I didnt get a "whoa, Harvard" reaction until I told my LOR writers.

How do you guys feel about this plan? I'm going forward with it but at times I feel guilty, as though it will end up making Christmas all about me.

I think they'll be happy no matter when you tell them. I definitely don't think they'll mind even if you wait until christmas (siblings might depending on the kind of relationship you have with them). I heard back just today, and since christmas is only a few days away and I actually want to tell them in person, I'm waiting.

I had the fortunate/unfortunate complicating factor of my sisters wedding. So I didnt want to steal her thunder... I therefor dont feel too bad stealing Christ's thunder this year ;)

I do not get jealous very often. However, I think being able to give your parents Harvard apparel on Christmas, letting them know you have been accepted to HLS, would be pretty freakin' awesome. CONGRATS TO EVERYONE!!

Not from TX, I'm from TN but grew up moving back and forth between TN and the Midwest area. Would like to end up in either Chicago or out west.

I'm not a Harvard student, but I was browsing articles about law school and I found this one and thought I would share. Congrats to everyone accepted!

So, what percentage of the class is full by this point, any guesses?

There are only about 1/3 the number of admits on LSN as last year so far. But people might be waiting until their cycle is over to update. Hopefully, there are just that many fewer candidates, but I'd have to think at least half the class is full.

Yep, but you need your password (which comes with admissions letter).

Just booked airfare for ASW#1! Spending a little extra time in the area--day trip to Salem, visiting Mt. Auburn Cemetery, etc. I caught most of the historic stuff last summer, so this is just to tie up loose ends.

I'm not 100% sure which I'm attending, but I'm leaning towards #1 as well.

YES, it's down to HLS vs. YLS. Seems like there are quite a number of ppl in this pleasant but baffling situation.
What are your thoughts? I understand the grading schemes are very similar between the two schools, but why is YLS perceived much more stress-free? Any general comments will be appreciated.

I'd also like to hear people's thoughts on the HLS/YLS(/SLS) choice...

I asked this question a while back... viewtopic.php?f=1&t=140353

Got a few good answers, though from what I can tell the choice boils down to several value judgments you just have to make (how important is lay prestige, how important is Boston v. New Haven, how important are smaller class sizes, would you rather go to a school that specializes in biglaw or academic/clerkships), and it seems if you can come up with definite answers to most of them the decision follows from there. I can say that taking the plunge is difficult and I hate the idea of turning down any of the three schools.

Has anyone admitted on the 20th or later received their admissions letter or binder yet? Patience is not one of my virtues...
