I agree bro. Its been so many years that i've been out of school and that gpa still haunts me. Why couldn't I just score a 180 and get into Harvard already! jeez! haha

Can you tell since when you were in review?

Sorry to hear that man. With your numbers you should have at least gotten into PT for sure, esp since you applied so early. But I think it is true that a sub 3.0 has that stigma from law schools, no matter how good your LSAT is.

yeah its disappointing but i guess I have to move past it too. my whole life is here in LA and leaving it is gonna be hard but I guess theres nothing I can do.

TJSL offered me like 16K a year...but cal western didn't offer me anything off the bat...Im hoping I hear something from them soon about schollys but nothing yet...Im hoping that after a year at cal western I can transfer to SW or even Chapman...so maybe i'll still see you!

sanjola wrote:
justright157 wrote:you are better off bro. I know you were interested in SW but really Chapman is an up and coming school so you have a great alternative. and its not to far from LA at all...you will like the OC. I guess im going to Cal Western in San Diego at this point unless SW pulls me off the waitlist.

sanjola wrote:Wait-listed 3/15. :|

Chapman here I come! :D

Yeah, I'm with you on that. I would have only chosen SW at this point if they gave me a decent amount of scholly money. I'm just really surprised at how terribly SW handled themselves this cycle and, with numbers at their median and 6 months of waiting, they wait-listed me. I'm surprised they did the same to you too. I'm kind of curious as to how they came to the decision, but I'm already over it.

Best of luck getting off the wait-list. Did you get a scholly offer from Cal Western?

thank you...i was suprised to...I was hoping for an acceptance especially since they accepted lower people than me plus Im sure they don't expect to have all those 160+ LSAT people to actually come through...but who knows what they are thinking this year...its really disappointing though. good luck to you though! hope you hear some good news

debili123 wrote:Good Luck, I don't know, people who got results today all of them are wait listed, but its unfair some people with real bad scores get accepted, thats just sucks, but you have good lsat score so u will be fine.

If u go to LSN to see the people that got waitlisted today, it really makes me shake my head... How are some if the people waitlisted?? What is SW thinking???

I saw a 161/3.3 and a 164/2.5 and thought the same thing...

but then I looked at their profiles..

161/3.3 got into Davis over a month ago..

I call YP. Knew they were going to attend a diff school.

I agree that it might be YP, but the majority of acceptances have all been above their averages and not really likely to end up at SW anyway.... So how were those 160+ able to get acceptances but this guy didn't? And according to his app he applied on sept 18 2010! That's even earlier than me!

I've got to agree with you guys, i mean some of you have been accepted to other schools i.e. chapman, which is a school I haven't heard anything from yet, but also got accepted to southwestern over a month ago, just doesn't make sense.

The 161/3.3 guy applied on 9/18/2010 and somehow others after him with similar numbers were accepted but he was wait listed. It doesn't make sense. He's got a backup at uc Davis but it makes me shake my head. Why is he YP and other people who applied after him aren't

I see what ur saying. I wonder if SW is able to see what other schools he applied to/got into. It doesn't make any sense that they even got back to him this late in the application process considering how early he applied. This definitely is weird.

SW's cycle this year makes zero sense. Maybe I should have left the "list other school you plan on applying to" section blank.

Maybe he had something in his app that SW didn't like in particular. Although #s are probably most important, lots of schools have different philosophies and types of candidates they like admitting, #s high or low or not. Maybe he made a critical error in his PS i.e. sent a PS tailored to another school but sent it to SW. But yeah, I admit SW is strange this cycle.

I've noticed they seem to be really akin to those who are dedicated to LA and have demonstrated it.

That seems to be a common complaint with the accepted students. It's only natural to expect a scholarship from them too if u have good numbers. I think they are going to lose some good candidates that they could have hung onto if they just acted quicker

They seemed to be pretty generous with scholarship money in past cycles. I know they changed their scholarship standards by interviewing every candidate they offer a scholarship to. They only did that in past cycles for full or close to full scholarships. The only scholarships I've seen going out this cycle are the full schollies. Maybe they're only giving out half tuition to full tuition schollies to just a real select group of applicants, not $10k here or $20k there.

Back in January I emailed Kelly Greer, one of the assistant directors of admissions, and told her that I was extremely interested in SW, was considering it as one of my top choices and asked about having a current student contact me so I could ask all sorts of questions. She set me up with a student and 3 days later I was accepted with an invitation to interview for the Wildman/Schumacher scholarship. Coincidence? I guess I'll never know but I have a pretty strong feeling that reaching out to express my interest had something to do with how fast they got back to me.

Has anyone else applied to the SCALE program? I've been in review since 2/10/11 and the other day the day changed to 3/10/11 but the status stayed the same. What does that mean?

Also I got into Western State, Whittier and TJSL..is SW that much better than them? JW.

I'm sure somewhere in this thread ppl must mention the fact that Southwestern DOES give scholarship $$. Sometime after you get accepted, if you have the numbers you get scheduled to have an interview. Based on the interview SW determines how much MERIT BASED $$ you will get. If you have already been accepted, call the school and ask them about it. Maybe you could find out how to get an interview?

I confirmed this info with both the SW reps at the West Coast Consortium a couple weeks ago and at my SCALE interview.

DEFINITELY. SW has a long history of producing tons of great lawyers and judges.

They sent me an e-mail about a month ago. I had been in review since 2/7. I believe they sent me the e-mail asking me to interview on 2/18. You should try calling them and asking for a SCALE interview.
