Congrats!!! and Happy Bday!

Just out of curiosity, can you share any steps you took before getting accepted that you think might have helped? Also, did they call you/email/ etc.? And was your 1st choice PT?

Thanks!

thanks for sharing your experience with us, could you tell us what were your optional essay topics, thanks again.

janefbk wrote:Thanks! And yes, it really was my bday. Strange how that worked out :)

Tips: I was a frequent visitor to the campus and the admissions office before and after applying, met with a couple admissions counselors (again both before and after) and kept in touch. Attended almost every prospective student event and spoke to anyone who would give me the time of day...

My numbers are not too great (both are in the median range) and I am not a URM but I have some pretty heavy softs. I was WL in March, sent 2 optional essays and an LOCI a month later.. PT PLEAS was my first choice since I have an 8 year old child.

I recieved a call from admissions yesterday with an offer. Hope this info helps..

Thanks for the info.! When you went to meet with the admissions office what exactly did you talk about or discuss with them? I'm just trying to see how I can make myself stand out if possible.

Hey Everyone,

I am the SBA Co-Director of Off-Campus Affairs for the next academic year, which means that I schedule all of the bar reviews and networking events for the students. For all of you who have been admitted, PM me if you have any particular ideas as incoming 1L's and I'll try to make it happen.

Congratulations and I'll see you all in the Fall!

Paul

I'm guessing we have no movement going on lately? Kind of scary.

Give the school a call and see if they have any other upcoming deposit deadlines.

I've been waiting for a decision since the end of March (when the file was officially completed). Anyone else in this boat? Not waitlisted either, just still no decision- IN REVIEW! Is this a bad sign?
Thanks!

sorry if this is a little off-topic but i figured this would be the best place to address this especially for those who have been admitted and i'm applying for entrance for fall 2012:

1) did you do the optional essay? (i can't decide to do it or not, i'm leaning toward doing it just b/c i feel anything that is "optional" is really mandatory in law school standards and probably put there to see who is going to do the extra mile?- although i'm trying to find a topic completely diff. than my PS).
2) would not being able to visit hurt my chances? i see alotta earlier posts about showing interest by visiting, but i'm all the way on the east coast, yet will probably attend my undergrad's law school fair so hopefully SW will have someone there.

any advice is very much appreciated thanks!! :D

I was in review since 2/22 then after 19 weeks and many emails and phone calls inquiring about my status my in review date changed to 7/11. A week later they said I was on the waitlist. Seriously can't believe it took them 20 weeks (and less than a month before orientation) just to tell me I was waitlisted.

That 8-10 weeks estimate is a little misleading I'd say. Is there anyone else out there still waiting on a decision after nearly 4 months? Every other school I applied to got back to me 2 months ago. I also notice that the admissions people frequently don't respond to emails. Not happy with this process.

I understand your frustration. Southwestern took nearly 5 months to wait-list me when every other school I applied to gave me a decision within 2-3 months. I also have a feeling that their admissions department takes "soft" factors into consideration more so than other schools (I was accepted to Chapman & UoP McGeorge School of Law). This might make the process seem more random. But good luck to you all.

My current status changed to "File is complete and in review" on 7/20 and under the requirements list it says "1st Deposit Received" and "2nd deposit received" with a check box next to each. Anyone else get this? A little foreshadowing perhaps?

Note: I was wait-listed on 4/25. I'll be attending Chapman, but just curious for what it's worth.

Just got the call...accepted into the full-time. I politely declined though. Hope someone from here gets the seat!

I sent in a LOCI and another LOR after I received my waitlist status. If I don't hear anything by next Wednesday I will probably send in another LOCI. The wait is torture.
