I got the call about an hour ago. It was a student ambassador just congratulating me and informing me of some dates coming up. He told me all the information would be in the packet and it should be coming soon.

I applied November 5th. Accepted 1/26/11. I called and asked the financial aid office about the packet sand they said they are mailing them though are a little behind. I asked if that person could tell me if I received a scholarship and she said no - only the Dean of the school could. I left a message with the dean, but no call back. I'm getting a little ancy!

I got the same phone call. It was kind of a let down. I applied and got in last year, but deferred a year. Last year, the dean herself called me to congratulate me. I thought I was special :P

Just got my packet. Very nice sent via Fed Ex. Received scholly info. 20k first year, 15k the next two with stip. I am also an AZ resident.

Correction: 15k only the second year, not the third...

Got the same offer yesterday. This definitely makes ASU incredibly affordable.
Biggest packet I have received.

Being the heart of winter in arguably the coldest city in the country I would LOVE if ASU would show me some love already!

My wife said I have a package waiting for me at home from ASU. I'm in Utah, so it makes sense I'd get it quicker than the East Coast. Hoping for big money. I'm so cold. I'm so cold all the time. It's bouncing between 4 and 15 degrees here. I miss the sun.

Got my packet- $20,000 the first year and $15,000 the second. I'm insulted, actually. Nothing for the third year, and I've been offered more money at higher ranking schools. There's no stip, but there isn't at my other schools. All in all, I'll be withdrawing, and I hope someone on here gets my spot. It came in a big binder and is very lavish. Maybe that's where my third year scholly went? Nothing against the school of course- it's just not for me. Oh, but the warm weather. I'll miss the sun.

I didn't get anything... the scholarship letter would have been in the maroon folder and not the binder right? Def can't afford 36,000 a yr out of state and their ASD is in April which is after most of my other schools require a seat deposit.... need-based aid info isn't released until April as well... not sure what the thinking is there but its not looking good for me and ASU

After you said this, I went back and checked mine and I misread. Mine was 20k the first and 15k the second without the third year also! Quite lame I'd say..... Guess they don't want any of us to have any the third year...

+1. Oops. That's a great deal for 1L, decent for 2L and garbage for 3L. Does this seem like a weird way for them to do this? Why not just call it $11k/yr? After paying only $1500 for 1L, I'm not going to feel like paying $22k for 3L.

Random question.. I've been hearing rumors about ASU privatizing the law school... if that happens over the course of the next three years, would that effect those already enrolled? The reason I ask is that the only way to make ASU affordable is the ability to obtain in-state tuition for the second and third year (I think I heard it was possible but not sure). If the law school becomes private... being in-state wouldn't matter right? I would assume everyone's tuition would be similiar to what the out-of-state people pay now which is 35,000+

Those rumors are true...Sort of. They are weaning themselves from public funding, but will remain a public school. I believe Berkeley and at least a few others are this way now. There is still a difference between in and out of state tution. They way this may effect all of us is the fact that ASU has been consistently raising their tuition yearly for a while now (I just spoke to a 3L who claims tuition has doubled since he started), and they are attempting to increase their class size in an effort to raise additional money, not only to get themselves off of public money, but also to build a completely new campus at the ASU Downtown (Phoenix) location.
Someone linked a story about this somewhere on TLS, but I haven't been able to find it. Maybe try searching http://www.azcentral.com that's where the story originally came from.
I don't know that these things will have a MAJOR impact on the class of 2014, but they are certainly factor's that I know I am considering.

I would say ASU has to be one of the hottest schools ever known to man.
check out http://www.tempe12.com, or even just go to youtube and search ASU or Arizona State.
There was website when I was in undergrad called Palmwalk.com that was just a live feed of this walkway through the middle of campus, created so that weirdos could sit at home and checkout the people. The entire school looks like an abercrombie catalog.

Growing up in Phoenix, I thought it was just a known thing that the girls at ASU are extraordinarily hot. In fact, all of Phoenix and Scottsdale is pretty much known to be a huge meat market for beautiful people.
I don't know how familiar you are with the area, but ASU is on Rural road in Tempe. About a mile north of the school Rural turns into Scottsdale Rd, and about 3 miles north of that is Old Town Scottsdale, which is just a huge concentration of bars and clubs. If you're single, and that's your scene, you will love it. I would suggest coming for a visit in March, right when it's getting warm. Go to a spring training game, hit the Mill Ave (ASU's strip) bar scene, and check out Old Town. You will never want to leave.
Edit: Old Town Scottsdale is what gave birth to that website dirtyscottsdale.com that Ben Quayle allegedly contributed to.

Awesome, appreciate the feedback. I've never been to Arizona but definately am considering checking out the area. Hopefully I hear from them soon so I can plan a trip accordingly. Do you live in Arizona still or you lived there in the past? You ssem to know a ton about the area so I'm assuming your from there.

That's good to hear I guess... a couple of the other public schools I got into such as Penn State and Michigan State have completely private law schools and are both about 35,000 a year in tuition.. granted I have close to full rides at both, I wasn't sure if ASU was going to follow a similar trend and screw over everyone already enrolled hoping to get in-state tuition.

Got my packet today in snowy West Texas. $30k the first year, $20k the second and $10k the third. I remember reading a good explanation for why they do schollies this way in the acceptance thread from last year but I can't remember what it was, and I'm too lazy to look it up again right now. Maybe during a drunken break in Super Bowl pregame tomorrow.
