I think a lot of people end up in this situation, not just with ASU, but because of waiting to get off wait lists, or waiting to hear about financial or housing issues or whatever. Sucks to lose that deposit, but in the grand scheme of things it's not that much money, and it's worth being at the school you really want.

I am on campus right now, so we are going to go ahead and go with an affirmative on that one. This campus is unfreakinbelievable.

:) Damn ASU where is my packageee. BRB checking mail lol.
Anyone know how hard/easy it is to get in-state tuition status after 1st year? I'm expecting to get in but not sure how much $ they'll give me if any at all.

"In terms of tuition, Arizona State School of Law is a bargain for residents of the state of Arizona. For the 2009-2010 academic year, in-state tuition at the school was $19,225, while tuition for non-residents was $32,619. It should be noted that non-residents who can prove their intent to reside indefinitely in the state of Arizona after graduation should, in most cases, be able to achieve resident status at the school following their first year"
Awesome.

+1

One obvious observation I make whenever I stopover in Phoenix for flights is how much apparent talent there is roaming the region.

the only decisions they have rendered are for those who submitted their applications for early decision. I am pretty sure they have not sent out acceptances on any apps in the regular applicant pool yet.

I spoke with an admissions lady today at ASU and she estimated that there should be decisions coming in a couple weeks.

So no that doesn't mean you have been rejected, I submitted my app mid november and mine is still under review

I applied last cycle and got in. But I was originally wait-listed around march or so. I received a call from the dean to congratulate me getting in and with a scholarship around mid to late April. I was already pretty discouraged from the wait list that I had made other plans in a different direction in my life. I had to defer to this year, and they got back to me earlier this time, but my spot was already guaranteed. I say this for those people to stay encouraged and don't blow your savings cause you were disappointed by wl :P

Scholly off the waitlist? That had to be a nice surprise! Looks like we will be classmates.
Is anyone here attending the PAS (Program for Admitted Students, ASU's version of ASW, which is not an ASW because it will occur on a Thursday and Friday) in April?

You have claimed to be both a 2l and 0l. Half mexican and eskimo?
4.0/167 and 3.x/150?

This is what I am referring to.

Yeah, the 4.0/167 you found in the user's posts was a quote of someone else... nice detective work though.

I'm kind of surprised that ASU doesn't feel some competitive pressure to act sooner. A lot of students are already going to ASWs, making decisions, and withdrawing their names from consideration.

I also never claimed to be Mexican. I 'claimed' to be HISPANIC. My GPA is 3.7 thank you very much.

To some extent, slow decision making acts as YP strategy. If you're dying to go to asu you will be willing to wait. If you withdraw before they ever send you a decision, then that's one less person they have to admit and not matriculate.

Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.

Agreed, it would help to filter out the "impatient", the "glory-hounds", and people who would just "settle" for ASU because they're worried about being on the waitlist elsewhere. If you stick around (and not to fray your nerves further folks, but one person in my 1L class here at ASU did not get their decision until August), they know darn sure you're devoted to the place.
